Shunting Puzzle (Coleco Vision Game)

Shunting Puzzle by Philipp Klaus Krause is a game entered in the recently held PDRoms Coding Competition v4.01 ( http://pdroms.de/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=105 ) – sponsored by http://shop.gp2x.dehttp://www.flashlinker-shop.comhttp://www.superfighter.comhttp://www.gamekool.comhttp://www.slanina.pl & ph0x.

This is a simple shunting puzzle for the ColecoVision. It has two levels corresponding to the classic Inglenook and Timesaver shunting puzzles.

Move the joystick forward / backward to move the engine.

The first fire button activates and deactivates decoupling mode. In decoupling mode a blue decoupling cursor appears and marks the decoupling position. It can be moved along the train by moving the joystick left/right. The second fire button decouples (and leaves decoupling mode).

Switches can be operated using the numbers on the keypad. Current switch positions are signaled by the point indicators next to the switches.

XPMCK (17-04-2009) (Coleco Vision misc)

XPMCK is a music (expressed in MML) compiler kit targeted towards various video game systems. It currently supports the following systems:

* Coleco Vision
* Capcom Play System (VGM output)
* Commodore 64
* Nintendo Gameboy / Gameboy Color
* SEGA Master System
* SEGA Game Gear
* SEGA Genesis

Besides the compiler and its source code, the kit includes playback libraries for all supported systems, as well as examples and brief documentation.

Release notes:

Added the ColecoVision as a supported target (I get really strange sound output from ColEm. But it works in blueMSX).

Thanks to the author, mic, himself for the news via ICQ.

PDRoms Coding Competition v4.01 (Coleco Vision misc)

It’s reality again, here comes PDROMS CODING COMPETITION v4.01 – Retro Coding Fun for Console and Handhelds!

Coding on “closed” handhelds or consoles must not be a privilege; dozens of free development kits proof the opposite. The steadily growing “homebrew scene” produces unlicensed software for devices not meant to be open for everyone.

PDRoms has always been in the homebrew scene to support the creation of new homebrew software, support programmers and artists. To show our love to the homebrew scene once again, here comes the ninth PDRoms Coding Competition.

Here is the brief data:

Topic: Create a logic/puzzle game
Competition running time: Thursday, 02 April 2009 to Sunday, 31st May 2009
Deadline: Sunday, 31th May 2009 @ 23:59, in YOUR timezone!

PDRoms Coding Competition v4.01 – Pre-Announcement (Coleco Vision misc)

From 1st April 2009 to 31st May 2009 PDRoms will be hosting another coding competition. This time we will only allow 8 BIT systems (as another sister site wants to go for newer mainstream systems and we don’t want to collide).

In particular the following systems are allowed (subject to change): Atari 2600, Coleco Vision, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Game Gear, IntelliVision, Master System, Neo Geo Pocket, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Nintendo Entertainment System, Odyssey2.

The topic is decided, but you have to wait till 1st April 2009 for details.

We are currently seeking for judges and sponsors – please get in touch with us if you can help or want to supply goodies which we can give out as prizes.

MazezaM v1.1 (ColecoVision Game)

Dr. Hirudo has let us know ( http://www.pdroms.de/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2706 ) that he released an updated version of MazezaM (feel free to leave feedback in the PDRoms webboard).

The goal of the game looks simple – to pass from the left part of the level to the right, by sliding the walls and making corridors between them, which you can pass through. Once you get to the right part of the level, the character goes through straight corridor to the next level. The game gets harder with every level passed. But the motivation of the player to go to the next level raises as well. MazezaM is also available for other various platforms with wide range of features on every different hardware.

Release notes:

I have made the new release of MazezaM for Colecovision, compiled with the newer SDCC compiler. It is now faster and with two more levels. But the Gameboy version is still better, with smoother animation of the character.
