The GameCube is a sixth-generation home video game console released by Nintendo in 2001. Powered by a 485 MHz IBM PowerPC G3-based “Gekko” CPU with 24 MB splash-resistant 1T-SRAM main system memory and 16 KB L1 / 256 KB L2 cache, it features an 81 MHz ATI “Flipper” GPU capable of driving resolutions up to 640 x 480 (480i/480p). It utilizes a 162 MHz Macronix DSP for 64-channel 48 kHz ADPCM audio, built-in memory card slots, four controller ports, and a proprietary Panasonic miniDVD optical disc drive storing up to 1.5 GB of data.
