The Sega Saturn is a 32-bit fifth-generation home video game console released by Sega in 1994 in Japan and 1995 worldwide. Powered by a dual 32-bit Hitachi SH-2 RISC CPU setup running at 28.6 MHz, a VDP1 chip for 3D polygon rendering and sprites, and a VDP2 chip for 2D background planes, it includes 2 MB of main RAM, 1.5 MB of VRAM, and 512 KB of audio RAM. Utilizing CD-ROMs as its software format, it features a top-loading disc drive, a cartridge slot for memory expansion or RAM carts, and 32-channel Custom Sound Processor (SCSP) audio.
