Sinclair ZX81 Files

The Sinclair ZX81 is an 8-bit home computer created by Sinclair Research and released in the UK in 1981. Powered by a Zilog Z80A CPU running at 3.25 MHz, it shipped with 1 KB of RAM (expandable externally to 16 KB) and 8 KB of ROM containing a built-in Sinclair BASIC interpreter. It featured a touch-sensitive membrane keyboard and output a monochrome 64 x 48 block-graphics display (or 32 x 24 character text mode) to a television set. Using standard audio cassette tapes for software storage and containing no dedicated sound hardware, it was sold both fully assembled and as a low-cost self-assembly kit, becoming a major catalyst for home computing in the UK.
