Speccy is a Sinclair ZX Spectrum home computer emulator. It will run software written for Spectrum 16k, 48k, 128k, +2, +2A, +3, Timex Sinclair, Pentagon, and Skorpion home computers.

Changes:

* System ROM files are no longer required.
* Soundtrack recording to MIDI.
* Accelerometer support.
* Bigger virtual keyboard and corner buttons.
* Sony Xperia Play buttons are fully supported now.
* Fixed TV scanlines effect.
* Fixed accidental crashes when exiting emulation.
* Synced Speccy to 50Hz, due to Spectrum’s primarily PAL hardware.
* Mapped unused physical keyboard keys to the FIRE button.
* Screenshots-on-exit now optional.

Nintendo do have their “Seal of Quality”, but what does the homebrew scene got? Up till today possibly nothing.

From now on Jayenkai scans through the new NDS homebrew, picks out the best stuff and awards an NNI badge to anything that would live up to the scrutiny of Apple’s Appstore.

SuperPong is a Pong game for Nintendo DS by PacoChan. It was already released a while ago, but was not covered here on the front page.

KazoWAR updated “NDS Music Player”. It’s based on fincs’ SSEQ Player and allows to play music tracks from commercial games with a GUI browser pointing at the desired ROM file.

OK I released version 1.0. It should be a lot less buggy, but still not perfect. I used Team Fails idea and made a .sps file that is a shortcut file that is generated on your computer using SPS Maker.

I pretty much removed .nds loading and my file browser. It is now locked to /data/NDS Music Player/ and shows the list of .sps files. The files uses the games title name, example “POKEMON B.sps”.

This version prints stuff to the screen at each little step, in case of a freeze try to tell me what you where doing and the last line on the screen.

Also there is a little bug I am trying to work out where my string for the nds path is corrupted. If you get something like this, pressing B and trying to open the sps file again seems to solve it.

Mutant Tank Knights by quasist is an action tank game, now ported to Pandora by sebt3.

The Battle for Wesnoth is a turn-based strategy game with a fantasy theme.

Quasist’s 3D adventure game Fleshchasmer is now available for Pandora (ported by sebt3).

WiiMC (Wii Media Centre) is an open source media player for the Nintendo Wii written mainly by Tantric and rodies.

Bomber Run Redux is an improved Bennu adaptation of “Bomber Run”, which is a shooter inspired in the hospital scene from “Pirates of Silicon Valley” initially for the Wiz by Isidor.

Alekmaul is currently working on a remake of Cannon Fodder for the Nintendo DS. There is no release yet, but a first screenshot.
