PSn00bSDK (PSX SDK)

PSn00bSDK is an open-source PS1 SDK project that aims to be as close to the official SDK as possible.

PSn00bSDK is a 100% free and open source SDK for developing homebrew games and applications for the original Sony PlayStation. The SDK consists mainly of libraries and some tools for converting and building resources to be used on the console.

While PSn00bSDK is currently a work in progress the project aims to develop an SDK that is as close to the official Sony SDK as possiblein in terms of supported hardware features which include GPU, GTE, SPU, CD, MDEC and controller/memory card peripherals and a library API written to follow the official SDK’s API syntax. With extensive low-level technical documentation of the PSX readily available (such as nocash’s PSX specs) there should be no excuse to not have full support of the aforementioned hardware features.

The PSn00bSDK libraries are written mostly in MIPS assembly language with compiler generated code limited to small and moderately sized support functions for best possible performance and to keep the runtime library footprint as small as possible. Many of the library functions avoid using BIOS calls such as C string and memory manipulation functions and use pure assembly equivalents for improved performance for memory and string manipulation operations.

The 11th Power (03-12-2014) (PSX Game)

Sebastian Mihai is somewhat we would call a restless coder, with the love for multiple platforms. His latest work is a simple game for Playstation 1. The 11th Power is Sebastian’s take on the 2048 game, except it uses colored balls to represent exponents, rather than writing numbers out.

To all interested into coding for PSX: The source code is entirely available!

Roll Boss Rush (24-02-2014) (PSX Game)

In Roll Boss Rush by isufje you play as Megaman’s sister ROLL, but not the Roll based on the Japanese Canon, but the Ruby Spears Megaman Cartoon. There are now 4 difficulty levels (easy-normal-hard & one-hit). You choose one main weapon (straight-spread-charge or burst) and one sub-weapon (vacuum-toaster-saw). You can also now choose between fighting 1 or 2 bosses at the same time (mono-melee) regardless of your difficulty level.

During battles you can grab your enemy and absorb their power and use it against them. She can even perform some physical attacks such as a drop kick. You also have a super meter that allows you to perform a SUPER MOVE. Based on what weapon you’re currently using, you can perform different SUPER MOVES. Each boss has a weakness, much like every other Megaman game. At the end of each battle, you’re given a grade based upon your performance, an information token along with a password.

ROLL vs ELEC [BOSS RUSH (PSX /ePSXe) -Homebrew Project-]

Mandel (Pre) (PSX misc)

nextvolume released a preview of a new example coming in the PSXSDK source code soon. It is a simple Mandelbrot / Tricorn / Burning Ship fractal generator for the PlayStation, also Multibrots are supported. As the demo does not seem to have a name yet, we just go by Mandel.

The direct link (sorry there does not seem to be anything else yet) is here.

Thanks to, nextvolume, the developer himself, for the news.
