The PC Engine, released as the TurboGrafx-16 in North America, is a home video game console developed by Hudson Soft and NEC in 1987. Powered by an 8-bit HuC6280 CPU at 7.16 MHz alongside dual 16-bit graphics processors (HuC6270 and HuC6260) with 8 KB of CPU RAM and 64 KB of VRAM, it outputs a baseline 256 x 239 resolution displaying up to 512 colors. It runs games from credit-card-sized HuCard ROM cartridges and was the first console to offer a CD-ROM add-on (CD-ROM² / TurboGrafx-CD).
