Neo Geo Pocket (Color) News
The Neo Geo Pocket (1998) and Neo Geo Pocket Color (1999) are 16-bit handheld game consoles developed by SNK. Powered by a 6.144 MHz Toshiba TLCS-900/H CPU paired with a 3.072 MHz Zilog Z80 sound co-processor, 12 KB main RAM, and 4 KB sound RAM, both systems render graphics at 160 x 152 resolution via a 2.6-inch reflective display. The original model uses a monochrome LCD capable of 8 shades of grey, while the Color variant features a TFT screen supporting 146 simultaneous colors from a 4,096-color palette. Famous for its eight-way microswitched analog-style thumbstick, the platform was discontinued in 2001 following SNK’s commercial exit from hardware.
