The Atari STE (ST Enhanced) is an upgraded 16/32-bit home computer released by Atari Corporation in 1989. Retaining the 8 MHz Motorola 68000 CPU, it brought major hardware additions including a dedicated Blitter graphics co-processor, hardware window scrolling, and an expanded palette of 4,096 colors. It upgraded system audio with a 2-channel 8-bit stereo PCM DMA sound chip alongside the original Yamaha YM2149 generator. It featured SIMM slots for simple RAM expansion up to 4 MB and added two extra analog controller ports on the side.
