The Atari 5200 SuperSystem is an 8-bit home console released by Atari in 1972 to replace the 2600. Powered by a 1.79 MHz MOS 6502C CPU with 16 KB RAM, it was built directly on Atari 8-bit computer architecture. It features ANTIC and GTIA chips driving a 320 x 192 screen with up to 256 colors, a 4-channel POKEY audio chip, and 360-degree analog joysticks.
