Android SDK v1.1 (Android misc)

An updated SDK for Android is out!

Release notes:

Posted by Dan Morrill, Developer Advocate on 09 February 2009 at 11:25 AM

Hello, developers! As you may have heard by now, users around the world have started to receive updates to their Android devices that provide new features and functionality. You may also have noticed that the new update reports as “Android 1.1”. Applications written with the 1.0_r1 and 1.0_r2 SDKs will continue to work just fine on Android 1.1. But if you want to take advantage of the new APIs in 1.1, you’ll need an updated SDK.

That’s why I’m pleased to let you know that the Android 1.1 SDK, release 1 is now available. As you’ll quickly see from the release notes, the actual API changes are quite minor, but useful. This new SDK has all the new APIs, as well as a new emulator image to let you test your applications. If you have a retail device running Android, contact your operator for the update schedule. An updated v1.1 system image for the Android Developer Phone 1 will be coming soon.

In addition to the new APIs, the emulator also contains improved ability to test localizations to the German language. Localizations for other languages will be added in future SDK releases.

You can download the updated SDK using the links above. Happy coding!

Alex the Allegator 4 PSP (R1) (PSP Game Port)

MK2k ported “Alex the Allegator” over to PSP.

Alex the Allegator 4 is a true jump’n’run, just like the old classic ones. Guide Alex through the jungle in order to save his girlfriend Lola from evil humans who want to make a bag of her.

Alex the Allegator 4 is a very small game. It runs in a very low resolution with only four colors and will not provide you with any real time video or 3D effects. Nor will it snare you with a compelling storyline. It’s only a short platform game with a few tricks up it’s sleeve.

Thanks to the author MK2k himself for the news.

Scrobble v1.3 (PPC Game)

Scrobble is a game similar to the word game Scrabble. Scrobble runs best on VGA-resolution displays, but it should also work on QVGA and WVGA displays. Use your device’s d-pad to move the board around so you can see all of it.

Changes:

– Fixed letter distribution issues (now includes the letter “Y”!)
– Modified CPU-Normal user a bit (a tad easier maybe).
– You can now use the Game->Options menu to choose what dictionary you would like to use. (Note that this still uses the English distribution of letters and scores).
– Minor fixes and changes.
– Support for automatic notification of updates via DeviceUpdate. I tried to support AppToDate as well but I’m waiting on some answers from their forum about a registry key that’s needed to make it work.
