Dr Mates (GP2x Fenix Game)

masteries released a GP2x Fenix game called “Dr. Mates”. Consulting the spanish to english translation it’s a “mental arithmetic” game.

Space Varments WIP (GP2x Game)

Great news from GP2x developer ruckage:

Quote:

Hello everyone,

I’m pleased to announce the imminent arrival of my new game ‘Space Varments’ which is due to be released by this coming weekend. It’s a shooting game with the aim of reducing as many aliens as possible to bloody gibs all in name of getting a higher score. Although this was originally designed as an F200 only touch screen game I have since added in joystick support for those who don’t own an F200 (though it’s a lot more fun using the touch screen).

Features:
– 15 rounds of shooting action
– Lots of blood
– A final boss round against Big Momma alien.
– Did I mention lots of blood?
– Amazing music by Pat Ferguson
– Touchscreen and joypad support
– Really – there is loads of blood….
– High score table

Keep watching the news for when this is released and get ready to massacre the alien hordes.

Tron (A2600 Game)

Release notes from jbs30000:

I’m pretty much done with my Tron game.

There’s one glitch left, and the scoring system, well, I gave up on that a while ago.

For those who don’t know, about a year ago I started working on an Atari version of the Tron arcade game. My bigest problem was the light cycle game.

What I have now works, but is a little tricky in that sometimes you can go right up against a wall without crashing, and other times you can’t.

Anyway, the glitch is that after completing all 4 games, you’re supposed to advance a level (there’s 3 levels all together).

After completing all 4 games on the first level, one of the games in the second level caused the game to completely start over. So, I’m posting 3 games, one for each level.

Where hacking meets demoscene – abusing mass market hardware for the greater good (misc)

One of the seminars at Breakpoint 2008 held the title “Where hacking meets demoscene – abusing mass market hardware for the greater good”, which has been presented by tmbinc – who is in particular known for beeing a part of Team Wiizers who released the Twillight Hack. It’s pretty interesting and shouldn’t be missed.

Quote from http://breakpoint.untergrund.net/seminars.php#s3

tmbinc is probably more known for his work on gaming console platforms and other interesting hardware than for his demoscene coding. So far he coded on the Gamecube, the Xbox 360 and the Wii, always with the intention to make the available hardware useful for own projects, without being an official developer.

Gaming console hardware offers a great value for a great price, but are unfortunately usually locked down to only execute authentic code. This seminar will focus on homebrew code on the Nintendo Wii and the Microsoft Xbox 360. After giving a short overview over the two quite different architectures, methods to load own, unsigned code to retail machines will be explained and demonstrated. Finally, a “hello world” for both machines will be discussed, to give potentially interested demo coders a start.
