Pocket Physics v0.2 (NDS misc)

Pocket Physics v0.2 is out! Main new feature: Pins!

You can design scenes freely by drawing things with the stylus. Things can be solid, like ramps and floors, or dynamic, like balls or boxes. Like in The Incredible Machine, you can reset the scene, change it, and start the simulation again. It’s even more fun if you have a DS Motion, which can be used to control gravity!

ScummVM GP2x v0.11.0 (Preview 2) (GP2x misc)

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!

Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft’s Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution’s Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep’s Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision’s Gobliiins; Westwood Studios’ The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts’ SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. You can find a thorough list with details on which games are supported and how well on the compatibility page. ScummVM is continually improving, so check back often.

Among the systems on which you can play those games are Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Dreamcast, PocketPC, PalmOS, AmigaOS, BeOS, OS/2, PSP, PS2, SymbianOS/EPOC and many more…

Release notes:

All,

I would REALLY appreciate any feedback on this new preview 2 release of the upcoming 0.11.0 release for the GP2X.

This release fully supports all GP2X’s (F100 and F200 with touchscreens) however I am not able to extensively test these releases as I do not have a GP2X.

You can download the release from the forum feedback thread here.

This should support all new games added in the 0.11.0 release including Elvira 1 & 2, Lure of the Temptress and Waxworks (Amiga version).

With the exception of a possible bugfix Preview 3 release this is pretty much what will end up as the official 0.11.0 release.

Jack and the Beanstalk (Build 1) (A2600 misc)

atariland2600, one of the restless coders at the Atariage.com webboards, is working on a new project, called “Jack and the Beanstalk”.

The very first binary file which has three screens of the village to go through is out. Help designing level 1 screens would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to follow the development of an Atari 2600 game you might follow the release thread carefully.

Incoming v1.0 (Beta 6) (A2600 Game)

Ben Larson released a new Atari 2600 homebrew game to the public.

Here is what he wrote:

After many years of being sidetracked doing other stuff (getting married, moving, grad school, getting java certified, taking up other hobbies, getting sidetracked ‘playing’ rather than programming), I decided to get back to do some atari 2600 programming and finally finish my ancient and dusty game ‘Incoming!’ once and for all. I’m committed to finishing it this time around.

So without further ado, here’s the latest beta version. I’ve added moving clouds, reworked the tank graphics to give it a little more cartoony feel, made the wind more realistic (i.e. using a real X-vector deceleration now instead of just modifying the initial X vector), fixed some bugs, etc.

Personally I think the wind is a bit too strong now, but you guys can tell me what you think. The computer AI isn’t all that sophisticated and seems to struggle now in high wind / high elevation situations…

Ben

P.S. also, sorry for no PAL version yet. i’m sorry, es tut mir leid, lo siento, and je suis desolee.

Delta Force Sniper v0.5 (A2600 Game)

Fort Apocalpyse has updates his Atari 2600 game “Delta Force Sniper”.

Changes:

* done – Variable speed: Speed up the cursor until it gets close to the target, then slow it down slightly for more precision. It’s how Sega made House of the Dead 3 work without a light gun.
* done – level 2 and higher (but no jacket) – Headshots: I found I was aiming right between where the eyes would be, even if it cost me more time. I think it’s a human instinct. If you can kill the guy by shooting anywhere else, make a head shots only stage, where the bad guy has a vest.
* done – level 3 and 6 – Selectable variation: One bullet game: Make it count.
* done – level 5 – 7 – Selectable variation: Wind. Fight the elements – try to steady your hand.
