PICO-8 is a fantasy console and virtual machine created by Lexaloffle Games in 2015. Emulating an intentionally limited 8-bit computer, it restricts software to a 128 x 128 pixel display with a fixed 16-color palette, 4-channel chiptune audio, and 32 KB cartridge sizes coded in Lua. It includes built-in tools for editing code, sprites, maps, and sound, allowing users to create, play, and share games directly within the program.
