PocketSPC v0.3 (NDS Application)

PocketSPC is a SNES sound chip emulator for the Nintendo DS. The SPC700 is capable of 8 channel stereo playback at 32,000Hz with ADSR envelope support per voice, and an 8 tap FIR filter. Currently all 8 channels are emulated in stereo, with full ADSR support. Changes:

  • Enabled preamp which I forgot to do in last release
  • Added PCALL/SLEEP opcodes, should help compatibility
  • KON/KOFF were being trashed on write, fixed
  • Fixed setting of ADSR when note was in release state
  • When note is finished, envelope state is set to none now
  • Fixed TCALL opcode, Rudra no Hihou now works (probably others as well…)
  • End of sample block decoding bug(s) fixed – finally fixes errant samples playing in zelda&many others
  • Added echo hack so that songs that were silent before now play back (earthbound) – This hack can also cause some issues with songs that use the echo with some wierd filters, such as some of the final fantasy 3 songs.
  • Improved accuracy of BRR decoding, samples are more accurate now
  • Dropped mixing rate to 24000Hz, gets rid of crackling during intense songs (legend of the mystical ninja)

Gianas Return (WIP News) (GP32/DC misc)

As I am at work right now and can’t modify the Giana’s Return pages, I am posting a few”work in progress”news here.

  • The project is still NOT dead
  • The project has a new coder who will stay unmentioned for now. He is currently in the task of recoding the WHOLE game. As he is busy with regular paid work, this task might take a bit long.
  • The project has a new gfx artist who will also stay unmentioned for now. He is currently retouching all the graphics of Giana and will be done with most of the retouching by this weekend.
  • The GP32 version is probably dropped forever, but this is NOT sure yet.
  • There might be versions for Linux, BeOS, MacOS, PSP, Dreamcast, Saturn and other computers/handhelds/consoles. I (Kojote) currently try to contact Armin Gessert again, who is the copyright holder of”The Great Giana Sisters”and who also kindly allowed us to use his trademark, if he wishes to not create the one or other port due to legality issues. We don’t want to harm him and respect him much. Unfortunatly he has not responded to one of my two mails yet.
  • Due to security reasons, the webboard had to be completly deleted. It is too much work to take care of two boards, so a probably new”Giana’s Return”discussion board will be merged with the boards at PD Roms.
  • Stay tuned for more news…

    Texture Mapping (Sega Saturn Techdemo)

    News from Rockin-B:

The SEGA Saturn cannot change texture coordinates in game by hardware. This means that textures are pre-mapped and cannot change (except very few and very limited programming tricks, not worth mentioning) which is required for some of todays lightning effects. So I started to implement the generation of a texture from a big source texture using texture coordinates and expanded it to a full featured real-time texture mapping support library. Three demos were released and the 3rd new demo is really…..ahm…..really worth to look at, I think.Features of the demo are: I’m so lazy writing stuff down here. Just look at the screenshots, view the video capture and download the SEGA Saturn demo to play AFTER READING THE INCLUDED README.TXT FOR CONTROLS. Because the demo is all about using the control pad smartly. You can do a lot with it if you know how. It is no auto-demo.

Angband v3.0.6 for PSP v0.1 (PSP Game)

    Author notes:

Hey all, I’m releasing a port of Angband 3.0.6 for the PSP tonight. For those not familiar with the game, it’s similar to the recently released Rogue Clone II, but much deeper (IMO anyways).Screenshots of the PC version of the game are available here, though my version does not look exactly the same. It’s still just as addicting as the PC version however and plays better than I expected on the PSP.Please see the ReadmePSP.txt in the zip file for controls, known issues, disclaimers, etc. The zip includes executables for both 1.0 and 1.5 firmware PSPs as well as the source code. Hope you all enjoy. As a heads up, it takes about half a minute to load the game, but after that things proceed without delays.Feel free to leave bug reports or suggestions in this thread.-abszero
