ScummVM DS v0.4 (NDS misc)

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the game, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!ScummVM DS is the Nintendo DS port of ScummVM and v0.4 has the following changes:

  • The top screen now shows a zoomed in view of the action, scrolled to the character who’s speaking
  • Large speed increase for Adlib music emulation
  • Large speed increase for GBAMP CF card loading
  • Closing the lid now puts the DS in sleep mode
  • Screens are now the right way round on the latest firmware for the M3 player
  • Savegames now save in the selected folder rather than the root
  • Dialog no longer skips when you scroll the screen down as it’s playing
  • The console no longer appears during gameplay by default, toggle it using the Y button.
  • Implemented screen shake function

    c64psp v0.1 (C64 emu for PSP)

c64psp is a Sony PSP port of Christian Bauer’s Frodo C64 emulator. Currently, disk image handling is not implemented, but pressing”Start”will load the file”snapshot.fss”from the main c64psp directory. USB connectivity is enabled on startup, so simply replace”snapshot.fss”with a snapshot saved from a desktop version of Frodo running your favourite game and just hit”Start”to reload. Control is limited to emulation of the Port 2 joystick. Diagonals may not seem to work properly, but this seems to bea PSP problem, not an urchin problem. Video seems to work well, though is not centered at the moment. Sound is working, but there seems to be some voice drop out – not sure yet whether this is Frodo, SDL_mixer, or urchin related. c64psp has only been tested on a firmware V1.5 PSP and was developed using SDL for graphics, SDL_mixer for video and the pspdev compiler toolchain. Intended as a preview, there are many features missing and probably many unexpected features included.

PSP Firmware Downgrader for v2 PSPs (PSP misc)

Most of the PSP interested people might have already read about it. There is a WORKING downgrader for 2.00 PSP’s.While previous news were mostly fake and the staff of PDR didn’t write about it, this one is real! It has been confirmed to work byWiddy/Metalvotze, one of my mate from the demoscene, who tried it himself. For all of you who don’t know what to do with this: Sony’s PSP v1.00 and v1.50 are able to run homebrew code, such as homebrew games and emulators, using an exploit. Other versions can’t do this. European PSP’s were shipped with v2.00 by default, and now their owners have the chance to get their hand on homebrew stuff. Whilehomebrew also enables warez, you are encouraged to be fair and buy games you like. Homebrew and warez are two different pairs of shoes and please respect the hard work of commercial developers. This is also in the sense of the team who found the bufferoverflow making this downgrade possible. The base for the MPH downgrader was the recently discovered buffer overflow while displaying a picture. Based on this buffer overflow, they managed to bypass and access an eboot file with the old 1.5 firmware. If you downgrade your PSP v2.00 be sure to follow the instructions one by one.Attention: Everything has been confirmed to work by several people now, BUT doing such a thing to your PSP can probably break it and doing this downgrade surly violates the Sony given warranty.I try to avoid my personal opinion in newsposts, but this one has to be said: Great work MPH! And welcome all the new PSP v1.5 owners 🙂http://www.tehskeen.net/modules.php?name=News&file=showarticle&threadid=539
