8bit-Unity v0.2 (WIP)

While modern game development often relies on a framework like Unity, retro game developers have a similar tool named 8bit-Unity. It’s the ultimate game SDK for 80s computers.

The next update will add support for Oric 1/Atmos and Atari Lynx.

Tobu Tobu Girl Deluxe (Game Boy Game) (Kickstarter)

Tobu Tobu Girl Deluxe is an arcade-inspired platformer in which a girl has to jump and dash through the atmosphere in order to save her cat following an unfortunate helium balloon accident. The game is a mix of retro and modern game design, with procedurally generated levels and fast-paced time attack-oriented gameplay. It also includes an original soundtrack composed by seasoned chiptune composer potato-tan.

Evoland.gb (Game) (Demo) (GameBoy Game)

Evoland.gb is a fan-made port of the Evoland game on the Nintendo GameBoy. This project by Fabien LOISON is a work-in-progress state, but enhanced enough to be shown to the public.

For those who do not know Evoland, It is the first game of Shiro Games Studio. It takes the form of an action RPG that relates the history of the video game through its technological evolution’s and its game play.

Xump v1.0 (Atari Lynx Game)

Retroguru are currently taking part in the Revision 2019 Game-Development Comeptition. The showed us a nice conversion of their puzzle game Xump for the Atari Lynx. The digital download is free, a cartridge release is planed later this year.

Dangan GB is a short simplistic boss-rush/bullet-hell shmup by snorpung and nordloef released for the Game Boy to celebrate the console’s 30th anniversary.

Release notes:

Dangan GB receives a small update containing a few bugfixes. The music has also been balanced a bit. The game drains less battery now, so if you already downloaded the game before and plan to play on real hardware; you might want to snag this revision.
