Conways Life Simulator (27-07-2013) (NES misc)

Conway’s Life Simulator in a variant for the NES by NovaSquirrel. Source code is available!

Release notes:

Instead of trying to see how Video Life manages to be fast, I figured I would see how fast I could make a Life simulator by just using repetitive, fast code and using unofficial opcodes. It’s pretty bare-bones so far and all you can do is move a cursor around to toggle cells and start/stop simulation, but I’m hoping to add onto it and have an option for a bigger grid because 32×32 isn’t even big enough for the Gosper glider gun. SNES mouse support would also be cool, but I would require an emulator that both supports the mouse and doesn’t choke on unofficial opcodes first.

XEphem v1.0.1.1 (Pandora Application Port)

XEphem is a scientific grade ephemeris program – a piece of software that tells you wehere stuff is – or will be, in the night sky. This software has it roots in the 19080s and is therefore very mature and well behaved (plenty of time for fine tuning after all). Although it uses a motif interface, it is an exceptionally capabale, useful and accurate tool for both profesional and amateur astronomers. Ported to Pandora by MarkW.

Dooom v0.8 (Dingoo misc Port)

Dooom is a Doom port for the Dingoo Native OS by the_wub, which itself is based mainly on the Chocolate Doom source port by Simon Howard.

Changes:

– Removed my stupid music volume hack that prevented music from being completely muted.
– Fixed enemy AI problems and BFG ammo bug by adding back dehacked support.
– Added support for modified wads. If all you want to do is play the official wads then the app will work exactly as it did before (with all your wads in the Dooom folder). To run a modified wad or total conversion you will need to create a text file called “comline.wub” that contains the command line options needed. It is also best to make sure that the Dooom folder only contains the files needed for the wad you want to play. It *should* be possible to specify these details with the command line options but I haven’t been able to do so reliably yet. For example, Aliens TC needs these files: ALITCSF.WAD, ALITCSND.WAD, ALITCWAD.WAD, ATCUD19.DEH and DOOM.WAD
– The command line options to run the wad are: chocolate-doom -deh atcud19.deh -merge alitcsf.wad -file alitcsnd.wad alitcwad.wad – Copy/paste that line of text into a new notepad document and save it as “comline.wub” in the /GAME/DOOOM/ folder.
– When you launch the app you can select an over-clock value as before and then press START to launch the wad. More information on running some of the popular wads can be found here: http://www.chocolate-doom.org/wiki/index.php/Category:TCs
– The command line can also be used to launch an official wad with extra options like -nomonsters etc…

Learn Japanese v0.9 (PSP Lua Game)

Learn Japanese by ponpon is a trivia game designed to help people memorize Japanese words by answering the English questions with the Japanese equivalent. The difference between this game and other language learning games is that users must input the answers manually by typing it in on a custom OSK.

Release notes:

In this update I added a option to randomize the questions, and I included a Karaoke rhythm game. Since this version uses Lua Player Plus by NaNnI & Rinnegatamante, it now features MP4 playback. However the LPP version that I used didn’t have IntraFont which was required for Japanese text input, so I included a option to switch to LuaPlayer Euphoria by Zack in the options menu. It just doesn’t have MP4 playback in that version, but it runs much more stable though.
