BrawlStats v1.2 (Wii misc)

BrawlStats is a Wii application that will have to be run after a Super Smash Bros. Brawl session. It will store automatically on your SD your results and then you will be able to navigate freely through a clean GUI that will show you a lot of information that Brawl doesn’t store (or doesn’t show). It also gives different trophies to players that achieve certain records. It can be like a database of your Brawl matches.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are updating from older betas you must move your .bss files from sd:/brawlstats to sd:/config/brawlstats and also copy the new meta.xml overwriting the old one.

Changes:

warns user if a session was not created correctly (due to a corrupted SD card, for example)
shows a loading bar when reading sessions from SD

Boondoggle v0.1.2 (NDS Game)

Boondoggle by Matthew Newell is a collection of word games with a very complete English dictionary, user profiles, and achievements as well as an original soundtrack.

Changes:

-Overhauled dictionary streaming engine (much faster word checking in Rhythmoggle)
* Streams the index into memory during the splash screen and title screen
* May require a small one-time loadscreen when you select a game (depends on whether the index is loaded by that time)
* Push the d-pad while making fireworks on the loadscreen for a bit of fun smile.gif
* After the initial load, everything loads much more quickly
-Added some graphical pizazz to tapping tiles in Rhythmoggle
-Fixed some graphical corruption on Rhythmoggle results screen
-Fixed cyan pop-up during loading

Rick Dangerous (15-02-2011) (Genesis Game)

Foxy and Pascal remade Core Design’s Rick Dangerous for the Genesis/Megadrive. The Megadrive/Genesis port results from a reverse engineerd Atari ST version and a complete recoding in 100% Assembler. It’s not based upon xRick, which most ports rely on. The game has been tested on real hardware and works!

Will Rick Dangerous, intrepid Super Hero and part-time stamp collector, survive his first mission in the Aztec temple of the tribe? Should he do so, Rick will face new hazards in the Egyptian tomb and the enemy fortress

Retro Hunter #17 (misc)

Sven Vรƒยถรƒลธing presents another “Retro Hunter” Video-Podcast. Unfortunately it’s in German language only. As Retro and Homebrew are usually playing in the same league, we will inform you about every new episode from now on.

From a homebrew only related point this episode has an interview with Widdy/Nuance regarding Trailblazer Wii and another interview with Kojote, project leader of Giana’s Return.

Chinese Touch v1.5 (NDS misc)

syslock released an update to his Chinese learning software “Chinese Touch”.

Release notes:

Development was focused on aspects of usability, dictionary search and integration of character component data. Usability enhancements include a rubber tool and an additional calligraphy pen style for writing, a clock display in new words drill, word counters on the left and right buttons in word lists, better saving of program settings and several other tiny improvements. It is now possible to do reverse lookups on fields of your custom dictionary entries and to choose from several keyboard layouts, including Japanese Kana. Newly added images from the Wikimedia Commons Stroke Order Project have been integrated and I hope to add a settings menu soon, that allows to customize priority and optional fallbacks between PRC, traditional and Japanese writing styles. Finally character component data from the cjklib project have been integrated into Chinese Touch. It is not complete and might have some errors, but you now can lookup individual components of many characters and their meaning, which can be very helpful when memorizing complex characters. Please also have a look at the revised user manual, which includes examples on how to use some of the most important features.

Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email, with your thoughts about the program, Chinese or language learning in general, including but not limited to bug reports and feature requests.
