Spinals Movie Player (NDS Application)

Spinal brings us another movie player to the Nintendo DS.

Read on:

I have been working on a small movie player based on work by Eponasoft and nicoco73. I originally intended to make Eponasofts converter a bit quicker, but ended up changing the movie format and adding a couple of extras.

Format-wise it is similar to Eponasoft’s media format, using jpg images for the frames and uncompressed audio. It uses ffmpeg to convert the movies, so almost any format can be converted (I have already tested mpg, vob, flv(youtube) anbd a few others. You can skip back and forward using the << and >> buttons and you can seek by tapping the progress bar. Pleas not though, you may need to hold the stylus down for a short period, as a lot of the processing power is taken up by the decoding.

Anyway, I’m having a little trouble getting the timing right (you might hear a slight clicking in the audio), so if anyone wants to help, please do.

PocketSNES SA-1 (SNES emu for GP2x)

HeadOverHeels has released a new version with SA-1 support and with “Speedhacks” of “SnesAdvance” support.

This is an Alpha, so is much less compatible and slower than previous versions.

This version is only recommended to play Super Mario RPG, is not a substitute for the previous version. When you launch Super Mario RPG must appear a “speedhacks loading” message, if you cannot see that the game is not loading correctly. If you overclock to 260 you can play SMRPG between 20-40 fps.

This version also supports Kirby’s Dreamland, Kirby Superstar & Parodius 3 , but they are too slow. You can try to add the specific speedhacks for each of these games to improve performance. You have to edit snesadvance.dat and add the specific hacks that you want, it is text file.

MobileChat v2.1 (iPhone WIP)

twenty08 are about the release MobileChat v2.1 this week…

Read on:

Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll be release MobileChat 2.1 later this week/this weekend. It works fully on 1.1.3.This isnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt a major release, itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs more of a compatibility release with a few fixes and a feature add:
– Works on 1.1.3
– DNS Issue that plagued 1.x and 2.0 has been resolved.
– BSD Subsystem dependency should be gone.
– Added support for XMPP
– Tweaked GTalk settings
– Sign On progress notifications (as seen in screenshots)
– Disconnect Notification: if you get kicked off, or you canรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt sign on, youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll be alerted now

AIM is working fine, the hold up is with XMPP/GTalk. While we resolved the DNS issues that really held both services back during the initial release of 2.0, weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre running into issues with authentication on both services now. Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre exploring the option of upgrading to libpurple 2.3, and have it 95% compiled on the iPhone at this point. Should only be another few days to finish up the port of libpurple to the iPhone and then upgrading the method calls in the application.

Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm sure the AIM users are going to be saying รขโ‚ฌล“I donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt care about XMPP, I want it nowรขโ‚ฌย however, believe me, a newly compiled libpurple on the iPhone will definitely improve performance.

Stay tuned guys!

Oh, and for those of you who really canรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt wait for us to release this later this week, SVN Revision 72 works fine for AIM.
