HostMon is a simple utility to keep a track of hosts that are online using a mobile phone. It uses ping on the Android phone to check host availability. This is being developed for the Android platform and is inspired from sntop utility.

This tool is mostly helpful to administrators. One can check the status of machines. You can also ssh into a specific host. Connectbot (or any software which supports ssh intents) needs to be installed in order for ssh to work.

You can also ask hostmon to read a status xml file over the Internet. It will display the status of hosts as present in the file. This allows you to view the status of internal hosts.

HostMon is available from the Android market place. You can also download the apk file directly from the Downloads section. HostMon is Free and Open Source software licensed under GNU GPL v2.
