Juno First is intended to be an Atari 2600 port of the arcade game of the same name. Naturally the Atari 2600 version requires some significant simplifications, but the main elements are there. The visual style of the game is similar to Beamrider, but it plays quite differently.

The awesome sprite graphics were created by Nathan Strum, and the the excellent title music was created by Erik Ehrling (moderntimes99).

Changes:

Blue sky is now shown while you are invincible (it also flashes just before the end of invincibility).
There is a slight pause before you reappear after dying (let me know if it is long enough).
There is now a time bonus at the end of each wave – it is shown in the score area while the wave number is displayed.
Each wave is now 60 seconds long (previously 40 seconds).
Included some new speech from mos6507 (more next time).

Microsoft’s annual XNA Game Studio Contest, the Dream-Build-Play Challenge 2008 was recently announced with an encouraging bonus – entrants who register on the official competition site will receive a free twelve-month XNA Creators Club trial membership. Only entries built for the Xbox 360 platform using XNA Game Studio 2.0 will be accepted, and all participants must apply for (or already own) an XNA Creators Club membership to be eligible for the competition. Entries can be submitted anytime between the 1st to 23rd of September 2008, while judging will commence in October. The grand prize winner will receive $40,000 and an Xbox LIVE publishing contract.

This is a game based on the game “four-square” played all over the world. If the ball goes to your square, you have to hit it so it first bounces in your square and then in someone else’s. If you make a mistake, you are out, everyone who was in a lower square moves up, and a new person enters the game in the lowest square (on the bottom-left). The highest square (top-left) is the king square, and if you make a mistake here, you only move to the lowest square, instead of going out.

You are the blue player. You earn points for staying in and playing fast shots. You earn double points when you are in the highest two squares. When you go out, your game ends.

Free MC Boot is an ‘exploit’ that allows a user to install it on official 8MB Sony MC’s as well as 3rd party cards. (with the exception of those needing a boot disc to be recognized or cloned Chinese cards).

It creates only your osdxxx.elf file and an empty BOOT folder on the Memory Card. Place the elf you want to boot as BOOT.ELF in this folder, or in BOOT folder on usb stick (if you let the installer inject the default loader).

You can optionnally put in the same folder that the installer:
– “DVDELF.BIN” file to replace your rom dvdelf taken by default for inject (It must be encrypted, so just taken out from rom).
– “BOOT.ELF” file to replace the default loader, you can for example inject uLE directly (sometimes the elf you want to inject fails to load, this is a problem with load address, so try to pack it with another load adress).

The default loader boots in this order :
– mass0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
– mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
– mc1:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
– mc0:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF (where ? is your region.)
– mc1:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF

The Cross-Linking trick has been removed, it will become optional in future release, but I need to fix some issues before.

If you have a red screen at boot, this means no boot file found, check that you have a BOOT.ELF file in boot folders.

Known Bugs:
– On newer PS2 it will fail to load “erom0: DVDELF”, these ps2 can’t hold the FMCB loader in their DVD player so try to get a DVDELF.BIN from an older ps2 of the same region
– The formatter will not work properly if the memory card have bad blocks.
– The installer uses XSIO2MAN and other extended modules, so PS2 without these modules will fail to run installer.
