atari2600land has updated his single and two player simultaneous play variant of a very well known russian block game. The game was previously known as “Tetris”.

major update: I’ve added a B-Type to the game. For those who don’t know, B-Type is where you can freely set the level and the height of garbage blocks and the goal is to complete 25 lines. B-Type is one player only and you press the select switch until one joystick appears with a playfield pixel on the left side. Once pressing fire, you can then select level (speed) and height, and then try to get 25 lines.

GMenu2X is an alternative frontend initially available for the GP2x and GP2x Wiz handheld. It features direct links to applications and games, built-in free space monitor of SD-Cards, built-in overclocker. All of this with a nice & clean look ‘n’ feel and easily customizable.

Release notes:

This is a port of gmenu2x it has all the features of the original menu working. I fixed 2 small bugs in the original code (dealing with new links that didn’t show correctly). I also added battery reading and a LCD Backlight setting, made the volume changing work and a few other things.

the menu needs to be placed in /boot/local/gmenu2x (and no other place, the zip already contains the gmenu2x folder so just extract to /boot/local).

You’ll also have to edit the /boot/local/sbin/main script if you want this to be your default menu !

This release is made for VGA devices, and supports booting Android both from Internal Storage (moviNAND, e.g. Touch Diamond) & Storage Card (SDMemory, e.g. Touch Pro). WVGA version and QVGA version is also ready. This app has been tested on WM6.1, but will work perfectly on WM6.5.x as well.

Keep in mind that your android setup must be installed already at the root of your storage card in order for this app to work correctly (e.g. Internal Storageharet.exe or Storage Cardharet.exe respectively).

Feb 3rd, 2010 – Unscheduled version 0.04 release
Last weekend, actually about an hour after I wrote the blog post below, my development PC started acting up. All the programs crashed one after another, until I got a blue screen. When I tried to reboot, it wouldn’t start at all. I removed the extra SSD RAID pair I had in it, and then it booted, but again got a blue screen after a little while.

I ordered parts for a new PC (as this one is about 5 years old already) as these symptoms have not improved since. This is also why I decided to release the 0.04 version today ahead of schedule, in case this PC stops working completely.

The new version has the changes mentioned on the previous blog post, but they are not very well tested due to my PC problems. I hope this version works better than 0.03, though.
