Sketches v0.2 (Alpha) (iPhone Application)

Would you like to jot down notes on your iPhone’s gorgeous touch screen? Are you missing a way to sketch a simple diagram as a quick reminder? Will your children like to draw on your iPhone, maybe on top of a picture you shoot with the camera? Sketches is a native iPhone application that will allow you to do all that. Scribble your thoughts quickly, select a picture from your photo album to draw notes on top, or shoot a photo of your friend just for the sake of putting a moustache on her face 🙂 You can even erase your drawing by shaking your iPhone, as if it were an etch-a-sketch!

Release notes:

Sketches 0.2 alpha already allows you to draw on the screen, select a picture from the photo album or shoot a photo to draw on top of it. It will save your work automatically, unless you clear it using the button or shaking your iPhone like an etch-a-sketch. You can draw full-screen: the UI will hide when you tap on the screen.

Future releases will include many improvements, such as the ability to select pencils and colors, a library of stationary to use for your background, geometric shapes, complex shapes (stamps), saving your work to the photo library (so that you can synchronize back to your computer), and many other ideas we will be thrilled to develop.

Navizon Virtual GPS (iPhone Application)

A version of Navizon Virtual GPS is now available for the iPhone.

For those of you who are not familiar with this stuff, Navizon is a positioning system that triangulates signals from Wifi access points and Cellular towers. It is based on a collaborative database where users who have a GPS device can contribute data on Cell towers and Wifi APs locations that will let other members of the community simulate a Virtual GPS on their phone.

The best way to install Navizon is through Installer.app (if you have it installed on your iPhone already). You can also download the zip file directly.

This application will be fully functional for 15 days. If you like it, you can purchase it for $24.99. But for those of you who of you who may wonder what this money is used for, it isn’t going in the authors pocket. It is used to pay the ones who do the hard work of collecting the data without whom this service wouldn’t be possible.

PDRoms Note: This software isn’t exactly 100% free, but as the author doesnt make money from it and the money is used to improve the given service, it made it on the main page.

Extended Pandora Bootmenu v0.84 (PSP Application)

Hellcat has updated the “Extended Pandora Bootmenu”. It’s key features are:

* Choose to boot firmware from memory stick, internal flash or the original Pandora mainmenu
* Fix flash1:/ (the one holding the settings and config) by formatting it and creating all directories
* Launch an additional application (PSPFiler or such) with working access to the real flash0:/
* Launch custom firmware installer (OE / M33) with working flash0:/ access, so it can install the CFW straight from a Pandora boot without the need to downgrade to 1.50 first, no matter of the current state (and version) of the internal flash.
* The paths to execute for flash0-app and CFW installer can be set with the buildin filebrowser
* You can configure a default option that is automatically executed when the WLAN switch is set to ON at startup. (By default there is no action taken)
* Access flash0:/, flash1:/ or memory stick via USB (straight from the menu)

BattleJewels v1.0 RC (GP2x Game)

Battlejewels is simple to pick up — just match coloured mana gems together to clear them — and gives you a lot of meat to chew on as you play more. Delve into the game.. theres lots to fiddle with! There are dozens of gem-swapping games out there, but lets face it – you can play Bejewelled for hours on end, but why? Just to clear the level? Fine and good, they perfected the form. But in Battle Jewels you can clear the level, and smash the opponent too. Its as simple or as complex as you want .. play to clear, play to win, or play to level up.

The game is available on Palm OS, Pocket PC / Windows Mobile, GP2X, Sony PSP, Mac OSX, Linux and Windows. Symbian and others on their way 🙂

NES.app v1.3.2 (NES emu for iPhone)

NES.app is a Nintendo emulator for Apple’s iPhone. NES.app uses a modified version of the popular InfoNES emulation core to mimic the 6502 processor in a Nintendo Entertainment System, allowing you to play ROM dumps of games designed for the NES console. ROM dumps are files containing the dumped instruction code from a physical cartridge. In many cases, you are legally entitled to posess a ROM dump of any game that you presently own. ROM images for NES are widely available online, or with the appropriate hardware, you can dump them yourself directly from the cartridge.

NES.app started as a fork of iPhoneNES v0.01, but has been completely rewritten to run very fast, and with many additional features including full sound, game genie codes, saved games, battery-saved ram support, and full screen support.

Changes since v1.3.1:

Allow A & B to be simultaneously pressed. NOTE: Only two buttons can be pressed at a time per Apple
Rewrote save state / wiring routines for better compatibility
Added mapper state hooks for seamless mapper state save NOTE: Saved games from prior versions are incompatible
When auto-frameskip, set default skip to 1 when restoring
Suspend emulator when changing orientation to avoid crashing
Fixed Game Genie code entry
