gpSPhone v0.0.7 (GBA emu for iPhone)

Just few minutes after the v0.0.6 release, comes v0.0.7!

gpSPhone is a GBA emulator based ZodTTD’s port of gpSP to the GP2X. gpSP is a great GBA emulator written by the talented Exophase. ZodTTD ported it to the GP2X, and added an (iPhone/iTouch compatible) dynarec. By using this coding technique, fullspeed performance of GBA is obtained on the iPhone/iTouch.

Release notes:

After finding someone to help me figure out which games gave the “Right button causing a B button press”, I have been able to fix the issue.

Thanks to ZodTTD himself again for the news and don’t forget to donate him for his excellent port, it’s up to you to see improvements and every single dollar might increase his mood to put more time into this project!

gpSPhone v0.0.6 (GBA emu for iPhone)

gpSPhone is a GBA emulator based ZodTTD’s port of gpSP to the GP2X. gpSP is a great GBA emulator written by the talented Exophase. ZodTTD ported it to the GP2X, and added an (iPhone/iTouch compatible) dynarec. By using this coding technique, fullspeed performance of GBA is obtained on the iPhone/iTouch.

Release notes:

Games should run much faster/smoother due to my improvements to the dynarec, and savestates have been introduced. You can now save your progress at any point and resume it later. Due to performance increases and some tweaking of the buffer sizes, the sound has got a bit better. Sound still has syncing issues. Frameskip is selectable as 1-4 and Auto-frameskip.

Quick answers to questions of people having installation issues:
gba_bios.bin IS required at /Applications/gpSPhone.app/gba_bios.bin
The file “gpSPhone” must have permissions set to 755 or 777 (eXecutable permissions).
Installation instructions are included in the zip as readme_gpSPhone.txt

Please donate if you like this software and wish for it to improve.

Thanks everyone for your support!

Changes:
– Improved sound quality & buffering
– Improved dynarec performance
– Added support for savestates
– Better frameskip support.

Thanks to ZodTTD himself for the news!

gpSPhone v0.0.5 (GBA emu for iPhone)

Release notes:

Don’t let the version 0.0.5 fool you, this is a large update. Thanks to a large amount of help from NerveGas (NES.app author), we now have a much improved GUI and sound! Also some performance fixes were implemented via the default frameskip settings and some dynarec tweaks.

There’s still some work to be done in terms of compatibility/performance, but it’s rapidly improving. And thanks to NerveGas we now have a nice iPhone and iTouch GUI and sound is now outputted!

gpSPhone v0.0.4 (GBA emu for iPhone)

ZodTTD is writing history today. First he released the only existing and public Gameboy Advance emulator for iPhone and to put a little bit of topping at it, it’s the second emulator for foreign systems on iPhone – The first emulated system was the good old NES.

gpSPhone is a GBA emulator based ZodTTD’s port of gpSP to the GP2X. gpSP is a great GBA emulator written by the talented Exophase. ZodTTD ported it to the GP2X, and added an (iPhone/iTouch compatible) dynarec. By using this coding technique, fullspeed performance of GBA is obtained on the iPhone/iTouch.

Things that still need work:
– Compatibility is lower than usual but many games are playable. This is being worked on as a high priority.
– Sound output is disabled, but it IS being emulated. So performance will only get better as this feature gets worked on.
– Auto frameskip might be off. Switch to manual frameskip if needed.
– GUI and instructions need a lot of work.

Plenty of quality (and some non quality) homebrews can be downloaded here from PDRoms http://www.pdroms.de/files/gameboyadvance/
