Motor 3D – Nitro Engine v0.5.0 (NDS misc)

3D Engine – Nitro Engine is a 3D engine coded by Antonia Nino Diaz.

Changes:

– Text system and camera system optimized. New functions for the camera system.
– NE_TextPrintBox and NE_TextPrintBoxFree slightly changed. They can limit the text drawn to a number of characters set by the coder.
– Some functions made internal. Don’t use them unless you know what you are doing.
– Fixed (?) at least the 2D projection.
– HBL effects fixed.
– Touch test functions.
– NE_UPDATE_INPUT removed.
– It now supports any BMP size, and BMP with 4 bits of depth.
– Arrays made pointers, so there is more memory free when you are not using Nitro Engine. You can also configure the number of objects of each systems you are going to use.
– NE_TextPalette replaced by NE_Palette.
– You can clone materials to use the same texture with different colors. This doesn’t have the problems of cloning models.
– Added functions to remove all palettes and textures.
– Fixed NE_End().
– NE can free all memory used by it, and the coder can tell NE how much memory to use.
– Texture drawing system improved a bit.
– NE_PolyFormat simplified.
– Some bugfixes, code reorganized, define lists converted into enums.
– Clear bitmap supported, this is used to display an bitmap as rear plane. Each pixel can have different depth. This needs 2 VRAM banks to work.
– Solved some problems with 2D system and culling.
– Nomad NDS_Texture_Converter is no longer included, if you want it, look for it in google.
– Added Nitro Texture Converter, made by me. Open source, and it exports various levels of alpha in the textures that can handle it. It does only accept PNG files.
– NE now accepts any texture size. NE_SIZE_XXX defines removed as they are not needed now.
– Added a couple of examples.

Jack and the Beanstalk (Build 39) (A2600 Game)

atari2600land has posted an update of his Atari 2600 homebrew game “Jack and the Beanstalk” which is based upon a fairy tale with the same name.

Release notes:

Expanded the castle and added the beginnings of the giant fighting level, which is in the castle’s expansion area. To skip right to what i have so far, the password # is 99. Tell me what you think about it.

DOSbox v0.72-6 GP2x (DOS emu for GP2x)

This is a DOSbox with modifications for the GP2x which features touchscreen, zoom, osd and fullscreens options. It also has a high compatability with games and includes an ARM dynarec. USB keyboards are supported too.

iShell v0.23 (PPC Application)

iShell is a fairly basic launcher application, built on the foundation of “iProphet” ROMs, in the style of the iPhone. It also has “widgets” (currently one, the clock) which aim to replace other applications and so integrate as much functionality as possible.

Changes:

0.23 – Fixes the clock, the battery in VGA, and settings should now be persistent for future upgrades.

Microfi Nitrogen v0.2.1 (PPC Application)

Microfi Nitrogen is a native Windows Mobile application (unmanaged code) that allows you to play MP3 songs stored on your Pocket PC device.

It features a file browser, full skin support, “Shuffle” and “Repeat” modes, a 10-band equalizer with preset support, a built-in sleep mode and a command to blank screen to prevent energy waste while playing music. Nitrogen uses the MAD decoder, which is opensource. As the official releases of MAD for Pocket PC seem to be discontinued, Nitrogen uses the libraries from an opensource player (GSPlayer).

Nitrogen was build due to the lack of finger-friendly players for Pocket PC (you have to use stylus even for simple tasks). It features large buttons and you can browse among your playlist by drawing circles on the screen (tapping in the appropriate space). In future releases the program will be expected to have other extensions support and more features, but such things are still being tested to ensure stability and efficiency.
