CPUD v0.1 (Beta) (Dingoo Linux Application)

cRTrn13 released a very BETA vesion of ‘CPUD’ for Dingux. It’s an automatic CPU clocking daemon.

It uses A600’s code and automatically adjusts the clock speed based on your CPU load, meaning it’ll give you just the amount of juice you need to keep your Dingoo running smoothly and preserve your battery life as much as possible.

DMenu v0.3 (Dingoo Linux Application misc)

Rookie1 updated his menu system for Dingoo Linux which resembles the default Dingoo menu.

Release notes:

Greetings! Attached is Dmenu 0.3. From the changelog for 0.3,

– Fixed a display bug where the menu items above the mainmenu are overlapping
– Execute programs directly instead of via ‘/bin/sh’ to reduce memory usage
– Re-structured config files to add theme support and reading config from application directories. See readme.txt for details.

I have changed the config file handling to support multiple themes, and search other directories to include additional config files. Games/Emulators/Applications can come with their own dmenu.cfg and these will be automatically included in Dmenu as long as they are in the search path. Check readme.txt in dmenu directory to find out more.

As usual, post your suggestions/requests/bug reports in this thread. Enjoy 🙂

In this game, you control a robot located within an interstellar spaceship consisting of several decks connected by elevators.

The aim of the game is to destroy all enemy robots by either shooting them or seizing control over them by creating connections in a short subgame of electric circuits.

Release notes by porter MrLogan:

Nicky Boum SDL Engine v1.0 (Dingoo Linux misc)

Gregory Montoir (aka cyx) has written an engine, which allows playing the Amiga 500 classic “Nicky Boum”. This engine has now been ported over to Dingoo Linux (Dingux).

Story:

The player controls ‘Nicky’, a little boy who embarks on an adventure through a fantastical land to find an elixir to save his grandfather from a spell cast on him by the evil sorceress Zoldrane.

Nicky can walk, jump, and in an original theme can throw apple cores to defend himself against the monsters occupying the levels. Aside from throwing apple cores, the player can pick up other items to throw at enemies such as bouncy balls and logs. The logs can also be used to build bridges at certain parts of the levels.

Nicky is able to jump on enemies to defeat them, which is often more difficult but lets the monsters drop point items to collect. When jumped on, some enemies such as giant snails will split into multiple smaller versions of themselves.

The game consists of 8 levels based on 4 separate themes including a swamp, dark forest and a castle.

MAME4ALL Dingoo v1.1 (Arcade emu for Dingoo Linux)

MAME 0.37b5 for the A320 Dingoo (by Slaanesh) based on MAME4ALL (by Franxis). This release uses Linux for Dingoo. Please install Dingux (by BooBoo) first before even trying to use this! Please see the readme.txt included in the release or this online version ( -> http://users.bigpond.net.au/mame/dingoo/readme.txt ) for details.

Changes:

* Whats new in v1.1:

– Implemented Video Scaling option “Scale Horizontal”.
Useful for games like R-Type and Final Fight, etc. Other smaller resolution games will stretch out to fill the screen. Taken from MAME4ALL Wiz version (code originally from Notaz & Franxis).

– Implemented Video Scaling option “Scale Best”.
This is a generic rescale that can resize any screen down to fit the Dingoo’s native 320×200 resolution. It produces the nicest scaled display as pixels are merged both horizontally and vertically. The downside is that it may be slow.

– Implemented Video Scaling option “Scale Fast”.
This is a generic rescale that can resize any screen down to fit the Dingoo’s native 320×200 resolution. It produces the nicest scaled display as pixels are merged only horizontally. As a result the speed should be somewhat quicker than “Scale Best”.

– Implemented Video Scaling option “Scale Halfsize”.
Useful for high resolution games like Rampage and Tapper, etc. 8-bit video mode is quickest as extra pixels are just truncated. 16-bit mode does pixel merging, resulting in a nicer, but slightly slower display. Should still be quick enough for most games. This is the fastest of the scaling options.

– Implemented Volume option. Games can start at Max (DEFAULT), Medium, Low and Quiet volume settings. This was requested by my wife. 🙂

– Fixed crash bug with Pole Position with sound on.

– Fixed credit/start button bug with Galaga.

– Fixed slow down issues with Asteroids.

– Added SELECT+Y as an alternative means of accessing the MAME menu. SELECT+X still works, but I found this would often cause immediate accidental keypresses within the menu. I use SELECT+Y now.

– Switched toolchain/libc to gain increase in speed. Vector games run faster and most other games have a small increase in speed.

– Source code coming soon.
