Sqrxz v0.9.9 (Symbian OS Game)

Sqrxz requires fast reflexes and is a simply mindblasting Jump’n’Run puzzle game with high frustration factor.

Storyline:

While Sqrxz wandered around on a sunny day, he was unaware that he had lost all his items while enjoying the scenery. It was already dark until he recognized the loss. There was no possibilty, but to go back where he started the trip and save his things. If the loss was not already enough, strange creatures appeared. Will they be helpful?

Sqrxz (2010) is a remake of a game with the same name and has been created by Rodolphe Boixel (Thor), Shahzad Sahaib (Kojote), Simon Butler and Brendan Ratliff (Syphus). Minor support came from Marcus Vesterlund himself who also gave permission to redo his game. Denny Müller (Mulle) supported the team with a WordPress-Theme for the official page and Rabia Sahaib (Mahek) made three more levels.

A remake should be usually bearing improvements, so does Sqrxz 2010. Beside the “classic” graphic mode, there is a new mode with “deluxe” graphics. The main gameplay has modified in a way that you need to collect all items to open the door at the end of each level, which makes some levels harder than they actually already were. Extended “fun” is guarantueed with additional three levels, unseen before. Each level does have it’s own chiptune and adds up to the retro feeling. A Top 10 highscore table will hold all your records. For the ones who like hidden features, there is even a small easter egg!

Features:

* Hardly any game will annoy you more! Frustration deluxe ahead!
* Amiga’ish feeling!
* 16 Levels including a “beginners” level
* 18 Chiptunes
* Classic AND new graphic mode
* Top 10 highscore
* Endless continue mode
* Hidden easter egg

The initial versions are for the following platforms: Windows, Amiga OS4, MorphOS, NetBSD (x86 & PPC) and Symbian OS (S60v3/S60v5 & UIQ3) – Thanks for these go to Thor, phx and Anotherguest.

There were great artists working with the team such as Simon Butler for the new graphics and Syphus for the great chipmusic!

Sqrxz is available in the flavors Windows, Amiga OS4, MorphOS, NetBSD and Symbian OS.

gpSP4Symbian v0.5 (Beta) (GBA emu for Symbian OS)

gpSP is a Gameboy Advance emulator originally written by Exophase and now ported to Symbian OS!

Release notes:

The first gpSP4Symbian release is now ready for the testing. It already has some of the fixes that I’m taking with the AntSnes as well. This kind of sums up my Qt development strategy, since now I can use the same UI with all my emulators, so the porting process should be quicker. Also taking new updates to the UI should be a lot faster this way, since I can share UI updates between projects.

AntSnesQt v0.6 (SNES emu for Symbian OS)

AntSnesQt is a SNES emulator for Symbian OS.

Quote:

The new AntSnesQt comes with Big D-pad, which is optimized for resistive touchscreen.

I had some help for the new graphics for this release:
* Thanks for Saiyaku for the new D-pad graphics and UI graphics.
* Thaks for Jasper Terveer for the small d-pad and button graphics.

What’s new
* Improved compatibility? (the code is much better aligned with drPocketSnes)
* Big D-PAD
* The new AntSnes has more realistic snes style graphics. See it yourself

ScummVM v1.1.1 (Symbian OS misc)

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!

Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft’s Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution’s Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep’s Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision’s Gobliiins; Westwood Studios’ The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts’ SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. You can find a thorough list with details on which games are supported and how well on the compatibility page. ScummVM is continually improving, so check back often.

Release notes:

Only four weeks since our last release and already ScummVM 1.1.1 is available on our downloads page.

This release concentrates primarily on fixing bugs, bugs, and even more bugs. As such, we strongly recommend all and every ScummVM user to update to this latest and greatest version. In particular, just as promised we fixed the issues affecting Nippon Safes Inc and Pajama Sam 1 in 1.1.0.

AntSnesQt v0.5 (Beta) (SNES emu for Symbian OS)

AntSnesQt is a SNES emulator for Symbian OS.

Quote:

The AntSnes Qt is ready for first testing round. The whole UI is now working on top of Qt, so I expect there to be some new bugs compared to the older AntSnes version. The good news is that this installation won’t overwrite the older AntSnes. I also heard the the D-pad doesn’t suck anymore, so you should be able to use this emu with touch only phones too.

I didn’t even try to get the Audio working, since the QAudio is not yet working in the Qt 4.6.2. I’ll continue with that after the QAudio is finalized by Nokia.

Know issues:
1. The audio is not yet implemented.
2. Save states are now found in different slots than in the previous AntSnes release.
3. The installation is now a bit more complicated, since the SWEvent capability is required.
