News
Dear visitors,
Once in a while there is a reason to be proud. Why so you may ask? During the month of July 2008 we have beaten the news record from January 2008. In total we served you with 640 news items, which makes an average of 20 news per day.
As some of you may have recognized “Kedo†is getting more active recently. He is warming up for his “takeover†as I (Kojote) will be on vacation for almost three months. I will be without internet most of the time and I hardly think that I have the nerves to use a 56k dial-up line combined with regular power outages. Anyway, Kedo will try his best to keep PDRoms running, while Celeth will try to improve and polish PDRoms codewise – a couple of new features can be expected.
Please give those both guys a helping hand and already a big thank you in advance from my side. I am sure it will be a though job to get a more or less decent rhythm.
Also a big thanks goes to YOU for visiting and reading the crap we write 😉
Have a nice day all!

Ocarina is a very simple Wii application for your homebrew channel. What it does? Start a game.. but there’s a twist of course.
Ocarina checks the GAME ID.. like RZDP01 for Zelda Twilight Princess (PAL). Then it checks the inserted SD card whether it can find a cheat code file for that game: in this case it would have to be name [sd]:codesrzdp01.gct .
To create GCT files.. a PC application is bundled in the package. This application is coming with 2 example files. rsbe.txt and rsbp.txt (Smash Brothers NTSC-U and PAL respectively). Using the File menu you can open, them and select the cheats you want.
Note that unlike an Action Replay you can modify codes with XXXXXXXX inside them.. it will always ask you to store modifications to its application memory I added this question so that people do not cry if a code is messed up – the actual cheat code file will not be modified until you save it in the app.
Once you’re done selecting codes: click on “Export to GCT”… and the rest should be pretty straight forward! Insert your SD card.

S2U2 (Slide2Unlock2) is a simple lock/unlock application which has the iPhone style slide unlocking. It can be used as a screensaver while you don’t use your device. And it’s has a CallerID function.
Although S2U2 is now called v1.16, it doesn’t mean it can be run perfectly on your device. Thanks to different devices produced by different vendors. So, please test it before use it everyday, especially the CallerID function.
Changes:
– fixed the update problem of multiple appointments.
– removed “ReLockWaitMS” which caused some weird problems, i.e. no more relock.
– changed the default value of “NoKeyBoardHook” to 1; it’ll set to 1 as well when the “VolumeControl” is 0.
– fixed the S2U2 Settings that could not save/change the “Volume Control” & “Keyboard Hook” settings.
– some minor bugs fixed.
S2U2 v1.16 seems to have fully replaced v1.15 which has been released earlier, without closer details but the equal changelog.

Dark_Alex has released a new version of his Universal Unbricker homebrew application for the Sony PSP. Using this application you can recover a bricked Sony PSP by installing Dark_Alex’s Custom Firmware via the use of a Sony PSP battery and a little arm work.
Changes:
* Now installs 4.01 M33-2
* Change of core. Now it uses 4.01 M33 core. This fixes some TA-88 crashing because of 1.5/3.40 kernel. Note that there are still other kind of newest TA-88 which cannot boot DC at all.
* GUI of both installer and DC itself changed to a xmb looking one.
* Added the option “Test M33” which boots 4.01 M33-2 from the memory stick.

CrazyC has released a new version of his DOS emulator for the Sony PSP. Using this emulator you can run a lot of your retro DOS games and applications on your portable video gaming console.
Release notes:
I put up a new binary with probably fixes it. Dosbox was checking for 0 as open(3) failure rather then the correct -1. Also, I added modifier support to imagemap. Put a,s or c after the key to and alt, shift or ctrl to the keypress; as for alt and shift, sca for shift, ctrl and alt etc… (actually this is untested, tell me if it doesn’t work).
Thanks to brakken / http://www.tehskeen.com for the news.
