In this game, you play in the year of 3249 and the world is barren. The Nuclear War between the United Federation of States and the Federated States Union has left the planet withered and dry. All hope seemed lost until a cadre of scientists working tirelessly on humanity’s first and only moon base genetically engineered a miracle ‘SEAD’. It was designed to survive and flourish on the last known green patch left on the planet. All that was left was to deliver the payload. Using advanced weather satellites, you must manipulate the Earth’s winds to guide the ‘SEAD’ to its target. The system is too complex to get into the details, but the controls are simple:
- Press the Right Arrow for a Westerly wind.
- Press the Left Arrow for an Eastward gale.
- Press the Up Arrow for a powerful Updraft.

The narrative of the game is to explore a world where there is are a number of bosses to defeat along the way, ultimately to save the world. You will have to choose which path to take and the order in which they will combat the bosses. It is important to choose wisely as there will be power-ups and items/objects along the way to collect and use in the combats. The objective of the game is to complete the world and defeat all the bosses.
Memory Leak by Moracan is a puzzle game made for PICO-8.
In this game, your job is to keep your company’s database clean and neatly organized. However, someone tampered with it, and the data has been erased. Using the hints on the sides of the database, fill the database with the correct data in each spot and restore it to its former glory. This game is similar to Sudoku, in that there can only be one tile of each height in each row and column. To fill the heights, you need to use the hints at the sides; these hints tell you how many towers are “visible” when looking at the board from that side. Higher towers cover smaller ones. The game has some visual cues to let you know what’s happening:
- A black tile indicates that the tile is repeated in its row or column. Only 1 tile of each height can be on each row or column.
- A grey hint indicates that it has been solved. A row or column with both hints of gray is considered solved.
- A red hint indicates that the row is full, but it has not been solved.
On the main screen, you can set the board size. The default size is 5×5 tiles, but you can make it 3×3, 4×4 or 6×6 tiles as well, if you’d like. 3×3 is incredibly easy, while 6×6 might be too complicated, or straight up impossible.
PicoRoots by LogerGrunt is a puzzle strategy game made for PICO-8.
In this game you will control a plant trying to reach a seed at the bottom of a level. You must grow roots to navigate through the soil and avoid obstacles such as rocks. The plant must also balance its hydration levels by absorbing water and avoiding dehydration. You must collect vitamins scattered throughout the levels to ensure the plant’s growth and survival. This game tests your skills and strategy as you try to reach the coveted seed.
Lapine by PlayMedusa is a short arcade game made for PICO-8. This game was made for the Global Game Jam 2023. The theme was ‘Roots’.
In this game you will play as a bunny and enjoy a simple life. Eat carrots, run away from the farmer and have fun. You can run around using arrow keys. Unroot carrots by quickly tapping ‘Z’, but take care, don’t break them. Be fast! You don’t want the farmer to catch you. Hide in the bushes or run behind him to avoid being caught.
Trebuchet by Lady Dana is a medieval action game made for PICO-8.
Your goal in this game is to catch the enemy’s boulder, but don’t let your trebuchet get hit. Use the left and right arrow keys to move but watch out for the flags that limit how far you can go.
