Be No Sqr is a Demo for Sega Master System by psidum, Sim and Slimeball.
This demo uses tricks not well implemented by emulators. Best viewed on real hardware with CRT. For best emulation results highly recommend using Emulicious, which is very close to hardware.
Bara Burū is a Sega Master System game by Kagesan. Seemingly out of the blue, vile sea creatures start attacking peaceful coastal towns, as a strange tower-like structure rises from the icy depths of the ocean. Guide master ninjas Bara and Burū through thirty levels of the mysterious tower and vanquish the evil that dwells within!
Waimanu: Scary Monsters Saga is a new Master System game released on 13th November 2015 by Disjointed Studio. Waimanu should be no stranger to you, as he is already featured in two games. On Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance with the title Grinding Blocks Adventure and on Nintendo’s DS with the title Daring Slides.
However: The gameplay of Scary Monsters Saga does not differ too much from the previous Waimanu games. Slide iceblocks to kill Weka’s, align three diamond blocks in a line to score extra points. There is a total of 32 levels so it should keep everyone busy for some time. Possibly not as long as another part appears, but Master System homebrew is pretty rare these days, so we all shall be happy what we get. It’s a free game, so feel free to donate or find another way to show your appreciation towards the team. Such great guys need to be motivated!
Considering we would have something like a homebrew of the month, this would be a very hot candidate! Thanks to Genecyst for the news via e-mail and sorry for the delay in spreading the word 🙂
A somewhat crazy but interesting project is the aim to recreate Mega Man 2 for the Sega Master System. Brazil developer gvx32 has put a lot of efforts into this already. All eight levels can be displayed and music is playing. Currently gvx32 works on a meta sprites to sprites function. Adjusting more music to FM. Another update might take a while.
Gekioko PunPun Maru is a homebrew game by MtChocolate, which also has the source code public. The game feels a bit like Mario Bros. but seems to be a bit more difficult.
Haroldo Pinheiro is currently working on a rather interesting project. Just think about having the possibility to compile old Game Boy Developers Kit (GBDK) games on devkitSMS. Basically making Game Boy games alive on the Sega Master System. Just see it as compatibility layer. Follow the development thread to stay updated!
