OpenBOR v2.2017 (GP2x misc)

OpenBOR (Open Beats of Rage) is an open source engine to play Beats of Rage.

Beats of Rage is a freeware open source video game and moddable game engine made by Senile Team ( http://www.senileteam.com/beatsofrage.html ) and inspired by Sega’s classic Streets of Rage series. The term “moddable” means that the program allows users to create their own content, and thus their own beat-’em-up game, which is then called a “mod”.

Beats of Rage was first made available for download November 2003. It was not advertised in any way other than by word of mouth, yet it soon gained enormous popularity. OpenBOR is now managed by the guys at Lava Lit.

FreeSCI (01-10-2008) (GP2x misc)

SCI, which Sierra referred to as both the “SCript Interpreter” and the “Sierra Creative Interpreter”, is a p-machine style virtual machine for executing platform-independant, object-oriented code. SCI was designed for 16 bit little endian computers, although there were later attempts to create 32 bit versions, LSCI, and SCI32. SCI was exclusively used by Sierra On-Line, Inc., to run its computer game series, with titles like Leisure Suit Larry 2-7, Space Quest 3-6, King’s Quest 4-6, Quest for Glory 1-4, and several others.

FreeSCI can decompress and load SCI0 resource files, load and link position-independant SCI scripts, execute SCI bytecode, display SCI0 pic, view, and cursor graphics, draw text according to information stored in the font resource, interpret SCI0 sound resources, and provide input events to the SCI bytecode. In short, it can run SCI0 games.

Thanks to Hooka for the E-Mail, informing us about this marvellous update of FreeSCI for GP2x.

Well, the time has come for HomebrewGames.org’s first official competition, organised by none other than I, CongoZombie. You may be wondering what such a competition may involve? Why would anyone want to spend their time making something that is crap? Well, possible answers to the first question include “because it is fun” and “why not?”.

Chaos 2x v1.0 (GP2x Game)

Ledow ported Chaos to the GP2x.

Release notes:

A GP2X conversion of Quirky’s GBA port of the Spectrum version of Chaos. (Phew)!

The gameplay should be very similar to the original Spectrum version because a lot of the code was based on Spectrum disassemblies.

Original code from: www.geocities.com/quirky_2k1

Tweaked and recompiled to run on the GP2X by Ledow.
