Here once again a video which is a few weeks old, but shows the 3D abilities of the Wiz.

EvilDragon created a small new video featuring the WIZ compared to a GBA Micro (size and screen) as well as running some emulators (MAME4ALL and Temper).
This video is a bit old, but we’ve just discovered it now 🙂

Warcraft – recompiled as executable for Wiz. Original Warcraft v1.21 required!
Changes:
* insert delays into victory screen
+ new action for button mapping: macro for key followed by left mouse click (e.g. one-click move/attack/…)
+ new action for button mapping: combination left mouse click/select group (acts like left mouse button, when mouse is moved during click, switches to select group)
* fixed playing music at startup
Anyone thought about how it looks in the GamePark headquater? The video linked below gives a small impression.
Thanks to http://wiz-blog.de/?p=93 for the news!
We’ve just spotted a german WIZ blog. So for those who understand german, it will be an additional informative source for WIZ related topics.
The Giana’s Return Team has posted the final and last video of their soon coming “The Great Giana Sisters” sequel. It’s a two minute trailer video and really increases mood for more. The first release is planed for the GP2x console. GP32 might be a matter of CPU power. Wiz and Pandora versions are almost certain, along with other systems.
Pickle ported M-HT’s and Senor Quack’s Albion remake for to the Wiz. Datafiles from the original Albion game (v1.38) are still required and do not come with the download package.
Albion is a computer role-playing game released by Blue Byte Software in 1995.
Pickle released GLQuake for the Wiz, it’s a Quake engine using nanoGL wrapper.
Quote:
This is a work in progress. It may run differently depending on the opengl-es library present on your wiz.
This release is intended for demonstration purposes only. How its works:
Tyr-glwuake is a full opengl quake engine. It uses a shared library called libnanoGL.so to emulate the extra opengl functions. For the wiz an additional library libwizGLES is needed by libopengles_lite.so.Issues:
nanoGL(maybe the opengles driver?) sometimes hard locks. Just reboot and retry.
Missing textures
Lots of flicker
Sound doesn’t work
Squidge released his Vectrex emulator for the Wiz.
Quote:
So, here”s Vectrex”s Minestorm for the Wiz instead. At least it proves that there was never a problem with my sound routines.
NOTE: As this is mainly a vertical game, it requires the kernel to support FBIO_RGB_CONTROL, FBIO_DEVICE_ENABLE and FBIO_LCD_CHANGE_CONTROL. If yours does not, then you”ll only have the 320×240 (Horizontal) mode available, as it uses the hardware rather than software for rotation.
You can switch between 320×240 and 240×320 modes using the shoulder buttons (So people who prefer horizontal mode, or don”t have the above functions in there kernel, can still play the game).
EvilDragon recently announced an delay for GPH’s new handheld “Wiz”.
Read on:
I’m sorry to announce that GPH told me the WIZ has been delayed further. The new date is now late of April (but this should be sure now, as they did tell me).
There have been some problems with the firmware – nothing serious or critical, but it takes some more time.
The problems are mainly the new flash engine – they are still testing various engines and try to include the best and most suitable one.
Also, the new firmware will have a better display quality – I guess the tearing will be fixed.
They also plan on releasing weekly videos of the WIZ development and interviews with the team members.
