Cramfsldr v0.2 (GP2x Application misc)

Release notes:

This is a first version of my suite of tools for making single file executables for the GP2X. This version uses cramfs images to store the actual game data.

It hasn’t been particularly extensively tested, but it should work on any GP2X since it is mostly script based (though these binaries won’t run on custom firmwares unless they use the GPH kernel or provide their own cramfs modules). I will be working on this again in the near future and will be providing more tools and more information on writing your run.sh scripts (I may even be able to eliminate that entirely though the use of a tool I intend to write).

UPDATE: 0.2 has been released to fix a mistake which prevented packages running on Open2x. All packages should be recreated with this release.

– Touchscreen support added for F200 users, including left-handers.

Yeti3D Lineus (GP2x misc)

Yeti3D is a well known 3D engine. Lineus picked up the work on the existing GP2x port and improved it.

Release notes:

I am now, what, the 5th generation maintainer of this code?
Anyways, I took synkr0’s port and pretty much just tweaked a couple of things, like
the “keyboard” structure, remapped the controls, got rid of that annoying SDL cursor,
and added some SERIOUS optimizations — It runs just fine at over full speed with the
2x underclocked to 130 MHz on my setup at least. I even managed to shrink the
executable – I’m a whole 10kb under synkr0’s file! The makefile I used is Makefile –
synkr0’s has been renamed to Makefile-synkr0.

Controls are now:
Joystick – move
Start – exit
Y – look up
X – look down
A – fire
B – jump

Enjoy.
NOTE: exit does not call the menu to start again, so you’ll have to either write a script
or use the wonderful gmenu2x’s wrapper feature.

Next step – fix minor bugs and do a complete re-haul. This is gonna be fun.

Gianas Return WIP (22-01-2008) (GP2x misc)

News from the Giana’s Return Team:

Quote from the official page:

As promised here is a small roundup of the current standings.

We hopefully finalized the levels of world 1 to world 3, the last adjustments we did, were to have equal enemies, instead of having them mixed up all over the game. This adds some kind of “system” and should let the game appear more professional. While we were working on this task, we added way more enemies to the playing field. The game is slightly harder, but nothing is impossible. Considering we gave Giana a nice and proper energy bar, there will be definatly use for it now.

The level designer is playing with his mind to add another few extra levels. There would be an extra level for world 1 and 2 already, but it’s unsure if it will make it into the main game. (This one is even new to the coder *grin*)

Another thing our coder was working on, we now have foreground and background tiles, but… to keep the game at decent difficulty, only objects such as the gras in world 1 and the mini-mushrooms in world 3 will stay “in front” of Giana.

The graphics guy, who is responsible for the tileset readjustments is waiting for his next job – but the depressed organizer somehow can’t make it, to send him the next steps. See this positive or negative

The promised “Lava-World” video will be delayed due to corrupt graphics files, we need to find a proper intact pre-version of it first.

As you can see, things are rolling more or less.

Regards
Your Giana’s Return Team
