Pacoman (Beta 2) (GBA Game)

Taiyou released the second beta of Pacoman (Pacman Clone for GBA) 2 days ago. The file is allready avaliable in the GBA/Game section. Here are detailed news taken from Taiyous homepage:

Taiyou Productions’ first game is Pacoman, in homage to the classic PAC-MAN by Namco (as Puckman in 1980). The goal of this project isn’t just creating a game from scratch, also making it to be more close to the original game’s spirit. There will be some differences from Namco’s one of course, but Taiyou Productions is trying to respect Namco’s original work. Of course Taiyou Productions will not earn a cent from this project, our only goal is to learn and improve our programming, making something fun to play at the same time. Pacoman is now in its second public version: BETA B 20021003, compiled October 3rd, 2002. We have reached to a point when the entire game is playable (including 5 levels! with increasing difficult!). Now you can save your own hi-scores too! The only thing that this version lacks from the final version is the sound.

The Fallen (GBA Game)

“The Fallen Team” released a prototype version of their new shooter game called “The Fallen”.

[Description taken from the homepage] It takes the established old school game design and pure gameplay of classic shooting games such a R-Type, Robotron and Smash TV and brings them into the 21st century with a more mature design style and advanced game graphics.

Thanks to GBADEV.org for the news!

Lost homebrew treasures? (misc)

I just wrote an email to the guys at Epitech Game Development Labaratory, read on, it will be self explaining:

Dear Ladies, Dear Gentlemen

I am very addicted to homebrew software, like the ones located on your page ( http://labconsole.epitech.net/index.php ). Due to research I know you had some GBA homebrew’s like

Bibibobo (Alpha) (GBA Game), or
Bomber Royale (GBA Game) on your page (both from 2002).

While checking your page, I can’t localize them anymore – I wonder if there are more “projects” for consoles or handhelds which have disappered from your page or actually never made it to the page itself.

I also recognized there are quite few “Dreamcast” games, which were never released but mentioned as “project”

Could you please assist me in finding such lost treasures, in case they can be made freely available to the public, made by your students?

You would do the homebrew scene a big favor! Thanks a lot and waiting for answer 🙂

Regards
Shahzad Sahaib
Kojote/pdroms.de

The page also contains a hand full of GBA games which I have never seen before, considering I follow the GBA scene since it’s beginning in 2001, it’s pretty crazy 🙂

You can discuss about this in the PDRoms webboard.
