PDRoms Coding Competition v4.01 (GBA misc)

It’s reality again, here comes PDROMS CODING COMPETITION v4.01 – Retro Coding Fun for Console and Handhelds!

Coding on “closed” handhelds or consoles must not be a privilege; dozens of free development kits proof the opposite. The steadily growing “homebrew scene” produces unlicensed software for devices not meant to be open for everyone.

PDRoms has always been in the homebrew scene to support the creation of new homebrew software, support programmers and artists. To show our love to the homebrew scene once again, here comes the ninth PDRoms Coding Competition.

Ghosts N Goblins GBA v0.1 (Ghost N Goblins Arcade emu for GBA)

FluBBa comes up with yet another arcade emulator which uses the M6809 CPU. Should be fairly playable, even has working screen flipping. Pretty much everything works except sound.

Please keep in mind the required G’N’G ROM does NOT come with the emulator.

Numchuck and the Conquest of Color (GBA Game)

Numchuck and the Conquest of Color is a platformer with a dynamic color palette. You play a magical, colorful forest creature, Numchuck, who awakens one day to find his entire world has been drained of color by the cold-hearted creatures of the north. Numchuck is tasked with color-changing his enemies by painting them with one swipe of his magical paintbrush tail, and eventually restoring color to his land. With each enemy you paint, and each fruit you collect, color is gradually restored do the monochrome world.

Further release notes from Eric:

Ok, so I’ve been sitting on a one-level game demo I developed (with the help of a very talented programmer, Tim Sorrels) in 2005, and I figured since the DSi was about to delete which did away with the GBA slot, I better go ahead and release it to the homebrew public while the format is still fairly relevant. 😉 Admittedly there are a few bugs and the difficulty is substantial for this level and the gameplay could use some work, so forgive me- this was my first attempt at game development! But hey, I’m proud of the end result 😉

Runes

Runes are little stones that have been used to look into the future since the dark ages. Each rune has it’s own name, and it’s own meaning. There are 25 runes – each was once a letter in an ancient Germanic alphabet. This program does all the reading of the stones for you. All you have to do is follow the messages that appear onscreen.

libgba (22-02-2009) (GBA misc)

This is a maintenance release for libgba which adds consoleDemoInit similar to the libnds function, adds a missing file for supercard IO support and corrects the function signatures in the stdio support for the latest toolchain updates.
