GP2X Wiz News
For anybody who already has a Wiz, here is something to try if you are bored. For everybody else, maybe it will be interesting to look at, who knows?
libcastor is a small library designed to give direct hardware access under Linux on the Wiz. Somewhat similar to Minimal Library on the GP2X, however it is a bit simpler to use and doesn’t require that you include the source into your tree (so if there were a hardware update and you had dynamically linked for example, a new library could simply be copied over to deal with any changes).
It is currently usable, though not complete (no alpha blending etc.). The README has a bit of information, though the documentation it refers to does not yet exist . Just look through for now, it has information on all the functions and constants included as comments.

PrBoom is a cross-platform version of the classic 3D first person shooter Doom from id Software. Originally written for PC, PrBoom has been lightly modified to run on Wiz.

Pickle has built a binary of DOSBox for the GP2x successor Wiz.
Release notes:
I just built dosbox from the Orkie openwiz stff. I have no idea if the SDL lib actually works. It has the dynarec included, basically the same features as the pandora build thats been tested. -> http://www.mediafire.com/?mjgzwymm9y1

Gernot is working on a WIZ game, which also does run on a real WIZ as proven here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGn1aWlwOas
The game is NOT yet public, but there is a Windows demo, available from here: http://www.glbasic.com/forum/index.php?topic=2395.0
Authors notes:
Here’s a preview of a game I made for the WIZ. Me playing with one hand, while holding the camera is a bit awkard, sorry.
The game uses the old pixel engine I had in the GP2X. I’m working on the OpenGL|ES version ATM.
The particels are alpha blended, but it’s still very quick. Also the pixel rotation in realtime is no deal the the WIZ. The game is a slideshow when running on a GP2X, overclocked to 240 MHz.

Orkie has us just let known, that the Wiz had finally its last changes. You may recognize that the right side, which used to have a D-Pad has buttons now.
http://www.gp2xwiz.co.kr/
A few people were not happy with the two D-Pads, which looked quite odd for most of us.
Gamepark Holdings decided to work out minor things, but these will result into a shipping delay of few weeks.
Read on what Evildragon told us earlier today:
Some of you may know GPH and me are currently at the IFA exhibition in Berlin.
We had quite some conversations during the last days – and I’m really happy to announce the following:
The 2nd DPad of the Wiz will be replaced with 4 proper buttons! AND the 2.5mm headphone jack will be replaced with a 3.5mm one.
So the only flaws I could see with this system will be fixed!
On the downside it means that the release of the Wiz will be delayed for 30 days (so it will be shipped in November), but I think that’s best.
If you like that decision, you can use this thread to thank GPH, as they will be reading it!
