Brakkens Blogcast (misc)

Brakken, webmaster of http://www.tehskeen.com started a “Blogcast” – talking how he came into the modification and homebrew scene along with interesting information about tehskeen itself.

Release notes:

I’ve just uploaded my first “BlogCast” which is sorta like a “Podcast”, but better. Well, whoever came up with the name “Podcast” was an idiot because it’s just a damned audio file with some idiots rambling on about his life, kids, job or pets. Well, in this case it’s me rambling on about my life, how I entered the “scene”, started TehSkeen and founded brakken.net. Of course it’s me so there’s a lot of shit talking ass cracking to go around.

News service partitially back (misc)

Dear visitors,

First of all, thanks for all the wishes and congrats for the “new” webmaster 😉 The past few days were really an interesting expirience, after all you don’t get father every day 🙂

Also thanks Brakken and Guyfawkes, who even posted about this on their main pages, I and my wife are really happy – and of course our baby too. I will try to get back on everyone, I’ve seen a thread on GP32x.com and probably other pages too… Just allow me some time to respond, it’s hard to catch up and now there are additional important matters than homebrew 🙂

As I have no idea how much spare time will be left from my side, the news might slow down, or I manage the additional work and nothing will change. Time will tell!

Again thanks for all the wishes!

– Kojote & wife & baby 🙂

PS: For those who asked, it’s a baby boy.

New PDRoms Coding Competition approaching soon (misc)

Many people had the wish to have another coding competition organized by PDRoms… so we are going for it!

The topic is settled so we are just focusing on fine tuning and writing the rules now. The choosen topic will allow plenty of systems to join the coding fun, details as soon as the compo rules are out.

For now we are writing to various retailer stores, if they are willing to support our compo with vouchers or goodies. The main prize is already settled, like the last compo there will be a brandnew GBA Micro for the first place.

Happy New Year 2008 (misc)

Dear PDRoms visitors,

this year there were many ups and downs in the homebrew scene, but as usual everything developed out in a nice way.

PDRoms never had more news since it exists (~1998, since 2002 with own domain) than this year, even the month of December 2007 brought again another record with over 520 news.

The kings of homebrew this year were definatly Playstation Portable, Nintendo DS and the GP2x. Also not bad in the race is the iPhone along with a still active Atari 2600 community, mainly the guys at Atariage, who excessivly use Batari’s “batariBASIC”, which is a BASIC like language, which compiles into an Atari 2600 binary.

A heavy drawback was noticeable for Gameboy Advance and GP32, along with some 8 bit systems, who always had low attention. People love to go with new trends it seems…

On behalf of the PDRoms staff, a happy new year and good luck for everyones upcomming projects. Let’s hope for even more releases in 2008! We really hope you enjoy this little service and will stay with us the upcomming year, support and helping hands are appreciated anytime.

Your PDRoms-Team
Kojote, celeth, kedo
