Giddy 3 is a great fun platform puzzle game. It was originally released in 2001 for MS-DOS.

Changes:

Fixed a bug which meant that Giddy could end up stuck in the ground if you stood in exactly the right place on one of the bubbles.
Removed the erroneous bulb effect when starting the game.

WiiRadio Issue (Wii misc)

WiiRadio is a ShoutCast stream player. It can read from thousands of internet radio streams and play them back on the Wii.

Here is an important message from the developer, regarding the latest version:

3/12/09 – Currently it appears that WiiRadio is not retrieving stations. This is due to a change on shoutcasts playlists page. I’m working on fixing this. Unfortunately I was in the middle of hacking up the code when I noticed it not working so it’s going to take a little while to get out the next version (maybe a day or two). The good news is that playlists will be supported in version 0.2. This includes reading them from the SD card and saving them to the SD in the PLS format. So any playlist you save from WiiRadio will be compatible with Winamp. – I know quite a few people have asked for this.

GeeXboX v0.1 (Alpha5) (Wii Application)

GeeXboX is an open-source media center software.

Changes:

This is GeeXboX for Wii version 0.1alpha5. The main changes from previous version are inclusion of SDHC hack for Wii and update of MPlayer to take advantage of recent progress in FFMPEG native codecs. As a result, some SDHC cards can now be read and written by GeeXboX for Wii and some rmvb files can be played nearly free of visual artifacts.

This version is based on the GameCube Linux team’s whiite-linux-0.1a kernel patches and GeeXboX 1.2.1. Whiite-linux-0.1a includes support for Wii USB host controller. However, support for native wifi and DVD is still missing, and USB host controller support is imperfect, making some USB-related functions unusable.

New Boot1 renders Softmods useless (Wii misc)

As reported on HackMii 10% of the Wii’s they tested for BootMii compatibility housed a new Boot1. WiiNewz is now confirming that these Wii’s will not let you install “SoftMods” such as the Wii and GameCube backup loaders. However, modchips and general homebrew aren’t effected – yet.

CIOS USB2 (Beta 2) (Wii Application misc)

This program is a modification of custom IOS module by neimod, implementing a USB2 (EHCI) driver instead of the OH0 module.

Changes:

added a ehc custom module which implements standard ios usb API over /dev/usb/ehc, plus custom usbstorage direct api.
restored the legacy oh0 module from nintendo. External USB1.1 devices will be taken care of by this module.
changed the order of module loading in order to be sure that EHCI initialization code runs before OH1, now bluetooth should work more reliabily.
added libfat w/ read_ahead and USBspeedTest, courtesy of rodries from mplayer-ce team.

ScummVM Wii (Revision 39329) (Wii misc)

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!!!

Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft’s Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution’s Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep’s Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision’s Gobliiins; Westwood Studios’ The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts’ SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more.

Changes:

– SCI progress
– Personal Nightmare support

Thanks to www.tehskeen.com for the news.

Frodo v8 (C64 emu for Wii)

Frodo is a Commodore 64 emulator written by Christian Bauer ( http://frodo.cebix.net ). It was ported to the Wii by Simon Kagstrom and does not share any code with FrodoWii.

It has only been tested in 480i mode on a PAL TV (the 50Hz mode gives me a headache). Sound support is slightly buggy, but usable. The emulation is not perfect, so all games will not run under Frodo. If you have multiple versions of a game, try each of them as often at least one will work.

Put .t64 or .d64 files in /apps/frodo/images on your SD card. The in-game menu allows you to insert disks/tapes, load them and configure the display, joystick ports etc. Saves will be stored on the SD card and the preferences are stored persistently. Wiimote 1 is by default the joystick in port 1 and wiimote 2 the joystick in port 2, but you can swap this.

Changes:

The Nunchuk and Classic analogue controllers now work as joysticks as well (thanks to Aaron Morris)
Some key binding problems have been corrected
Lots of networking implementation. Won’t work yet…

WiiND v1.0 (Wii Application)

This app dumps the NAND to USB and SD. If a USB device is plugged in it will attempt to dump to said USB device. If no USB device is inserted it will attempt to dump to the SD card.
