The Gizzle Wap and The Strange Red Tree (Update 69) (Final A) (A2600 Game)

The Gizzle Wap and The Strange Red Tree is a game for Atari VCS by Mountain King.

Deep in the JThainian forest, in the clearing where the Zazzle Flies play a Strange Red Tree took root over night. It made an unsettling hum and gave off a noxious odor poisoning many of the flies. Camy, the strongest of his brood sought help from the defender of the woods, a small bouncing creature known as the Gizzle Wap. He would know what to do.

The Gizzle Waps solution was simple: Remove the Strange Red Tree. But there was another problem. Coinciding with the appearance of the red tree came the Myrmica a race of mindless insects that feed upon the inhabitants of the forest. Even worse the Myrmica never come alone. They serve the Invicta. Unlike the Myrmica, the Invicta are cunning and tenacious. They will not be satisfied until they control the entire forest or see its destruction. The tree is most certainly their machination.

The plan to remove the tree and defeat the Invicta was not as simple. The only creatures strong enough to pull the tree out of the ground are the Pegsi. The Gizzle Wap would attract the Pegsi to the clearing with cloud fruit and convince them to remove the Red Tree. Once the tree has been removed, the Invctas magic will be weakened and their lair should be revealed. The final step will be to confront the Invicta.

Changes:

1. Fixed a minor bug where the Gizzle Wap did not animate after beating the Invicta. He’s happier now too.
2. Game Play update. Dropping off fruit at the tree is now optional. Accumulative fruit count no longer goes down. This is to accommodate people who don’t read the instruction manual. You know who you are. If you do drop off fruit at the tree your accumulative fruit count will increase by the number of fruit you have in your possession. (Caution) The Pegsi will still take your fruit so it is possible that you may be left with no fruit for the Invicta fight.
3. Accumulative fruit count is now level based. 10+(current) Level
4. With the left Difficulty switch set to A, you may only carry 2 Cloud fruit at a time.
5. The tree “laughs” at you when you are defeated.
6. Crickets can be heard in the Zazzle Clearing if you beat the game.

The Gizzle Wap and The Strange Red Tree (Update 62) (A2600 Game)

Changes:

1. Really fixed the green score this time, it turns green when it is supposed to.
2. Fixed the eating bug. Now your health goes up when you eat the fruit. No delay no matter when you have your meal.
3. You no longer can eat a fruit unless you show visible damage about 32 points
4. Your health bar and fruit count flash red when you take damage.
5. When the left difficulty is set to “B” you can carry 4 cloud fruit. When it is set to “A” you can only carry 3.
6. When the right difficulty is set to “B” the tree’s poison does not affect you. When it is set to “A” you will take damage slowly over time.
7. The Gizzle Wap’s bouncing sound is timed better to how he moves. The tap sound is on the down animation.
8. Added an opening animation after the titlescreen and the music plays.

The Deep v0.2 (A2600 Game)

The Deep by winkdot for Atari 2600 has been updated.

About: Having created your own one man personal sub with (patent pending) hydro torpedoes, you set out to explore the waters and collect deep sea treasure. Only problem is, the treasures are guarded by sea drones placed there by a mysterious and extremely wealthy mad man who lacks the sub technology to collect the treasures for himself. You have unlimited hydro torpedoes to destroy the sea drones, but only a limited amount of oxygen. Your oxygen indicator is located on the bottom right screen and will reduce as oxygen is depleted. Your oxygen sensor will omit a sounds as it ticks down.

Joystick controls the sub in eight directions.
Joystick left or right and fire button – fires hydro torpedoes.
Each drone destroyed is worth 100 points.
Each treasure successfully retrieved is worth 1000 points.

Successful treasure retrieval renews your oxygen supply (anytime your at the surface your oxygen is renewed). Also this will move your sub to the next treasure dive. Each treasure dive is deeper and more dangerous. You have three subs and there are five treasure dives. Avoid any obstacles with your sub. You must explore the depths, collect the treasure and return it to the surface without getting destroyed.

Changes:

* A bit of tweaking here and there.
* When oxygen level gets dangerously low a klaxon warning sounds and the oxygen level begins to flash.
* After level 1 and after, a CZ drone will be released when you are about to get the treasure. This drone is impervious to your hydro missiles.
* After level 3 and after, a boat will appear on the surface. Avoid the boat.
* Animated sprites.
* Hydro missiles are faster.

F40 v0.03a (Atari 2600 Game)

Rastignac continued development of his racing game F40. The game was also known as “Ferreira 40”.

Changes:

– Untested on real hardware; sorry.
– Copyright changed from 2008 to 2014!
– Copyright changed from 2014 to 2015!
– Little fixes in main menu (missing characters, etc).
– Main menu is still the same (nothing new: same bad music, same boring look, etc).
– Note that texts’ police just suck (some characters are ugly, some are nicer). To redo later.
– “One player game” is still not a real game. Nothing changed. Same half-baked prototype kernel with bugs and defects.
– Perhaps better random for badguys’ cars in “one player” mode.
– “Two players game” has been worked! Kernel is nice; not finished yet, but it’s a good base; (it’s all about that base!).
– “Two players” mode is not a real game either. It’s a prototype, a promise, a showroom.
– Design in “two players” mode is not final. Arrows suck (some are even different from others), etc.
– Sources will also be available; they are dirty, messy, and there’s nothing to learn from them, but they will be available soon. Oh my god, look at dat asm!
