Jack B. Quick WIP (12-01-2008) (Coleco Vision Game)

Jack B. Quick is a work in progress side scrolling demo by Mark 2008.

Here are the exact release notes:

The computer I develop on….is not playing colecovision games correctly…can you believe that. I guess its not fast enough.

Well……that makes it hard to know if there is a slow down in the demo, or its just my machine. The last time I transferred this ROM to a faster machine…it was smooth. Whether it still is….don’t know, but before the game is released, of course I will have it smooth.

these are quite long term projects, perhaps…. I’m not trying to announce any imminent game…but, since I did bring up the topic of a side scroller….here is a ROM that kind of shows what I’m talking about.

And you’ll see I put on the first screen most of the tiles…I did that on purpose as kind of a demonstration as to how it works.

The screen will have more detail at the top, and I will place mountains and shrubs, to also appeal to the eye.

I may move it away from the Mario style, to the Jack Be Nimble, Nursery Rhyme world I envision….centered aroudn the medieval game of candlestick jumping…..

but….anyway…enjoy

SimCity Port for iPhone? (iPhone misc)

Seems ZodTTD, famous for PSX4iPhone, gpSPhone and OpenTTD has picked up a new project, this time “Sim City”.

Read on:

So I wake up to a slew of requests to port the SimCity source code released, to the iPhone and iPod Touch. This is, quite frankly, a dream come true. I’ve always been a huge fan of SimCity, and here’s my chance to do what would become my favorite port of all time.

This project will be somewhat tough since even though it was well written, the source is for X Window for Linux.

So should I begin work on yet another project, or should I focus all my attention on updates to gpSPhone, for instance?

What is sure to be my favorite project, may not be your favorite. Let me know here:

Blingo 2008 WIP (GP2x Fenix Game)

Ruckage, known for heavily polished GP2x Freeware games, hits the news again. Today he wrote us about a major retouch of his old GP2x Fenix game Blingo.

Here is what he wrote:

This is a complete re-write of the code with some major new features and new graphics, the only image being re-used from the original is the cherub and even he has had some tidying up and has been completely re-coloured.

One of the new features I’m trying to incorporate is full touchscreen support, I feel the game is ideal for this so it makes sense to me to add it. Unfortunately I don’t own an F200 unit and can’t afford to buy one so if you’re feeling generous and would like to donate some money to me you can visit my rather shabby website (I’ll update it sometime) and use the donate button to send me some money through paypal. If I can raise enough to get the F200 then I will obviously be more inclined to make games that support the touchscreen, and it would also make it easier for me to develop and then test the touchscreen functions. I will keep you informed of the total amount donated (if any) in this post. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Click here to be taken to my website if you would like to donate.

Anyway, enough begging and onto a wip Blingo 2008 screen shot. The next image shows the profile selection screen, each profile you create stores your name, number of games played and personal best score. You may also notice that each profile has a small avatar which you design when you create the profile.

Apart from touch screen support and numerous other small changes and additions there is another major addition…… which I’m going to keep secret for the time being but may reveal in a few days time. Watch this space.
