Wii GeckoOS v1.9 (Wii Application)

brkirch has released a new version of his version of Gecko OS a Nintendo Wii hacking accessory. Using Gecko OS by itself you can boot imports and use cheat codes. However, if you use it along with the USB Gecko you can hack your own codes and have access to enhanced debugging features.

Changes:

– Added channel loading with hooks, channel menu supports same database.txt format as AnyTitle Deleter MOD to replace the channel IDs with channel names (put database.txt at the root of the SD card)
– Ocarina works on channels
– ELF/DOL loading from geckoload now works
– Optionally the directory data/gecko can contain the codes folder, patch folder, gameconfig.txt, config.dat, and background.png instead of the root of the SD card
– GC memory cards are no longer detected as a USB Gecko
– Changed how exit works; if a loader other than the homebrew channel was used (or an old version of the HBC) it will return to the system menu
– Fixed a text overlapping bug that would happen if a disc error occurs and Ocarina is on

Thanks to www.nintendomax.com for the news.

Frodo v10 (C64 emu for Wii)

Frodo is a Commodore 64 emulator written by Christian Bauer ( http://frodo.cebix.net ). It was ported to the Wii by Simon Kagstrom and does not share any code with FrodoWii.

Put .t64 or .d64 files in /apps/frodo/images on your SD card. The in-game menu allows you to insert disks/tapes, load them and configure the display, joystick ports etc. Saves will be stored on the SD card and the preferences are stored persistently. Wiimote 1 is by default the joystick in port 1 and wiimote 2 the joystick in port 2, but you can swap this.

Changes:

Holger Eilts has improved the menu layout quite a lot
Loading separate files in a .D64 from the menu is now possible (Holger Eilts)
It’s possible to store and load files in subdirectories now
By pressing F10 while in a network game, you can type in a message to the other player with the USB keyboard
Sound cracks are now gone (thanks to Tantrics new SDL work)

Quake Wii GX v0.04 Network Patch (25-04-2009) (Wii Game Port)

Piko’s released a Network Patch for Quake Wii GX!

Release notes:

Thanks to Q1REV I have been able to patch in their changes to QuakeGX to get client abilities. All you have to do is set disable network to “no”, and then scan your local network. All I did was hack this in, the real credit goes to Izhido for his network code.

Wolfenstein 3D Wii v1.1a (Wii Game Port)

Here comes an updated version of Wolfenstein 3D for the Wii.

Because Wolfenstein 3D is showing swastika’s during ingame, we can not provide any links as it would be against german law. In particular it would be against paragraph 86 StGB “Verbreiten von Propagandamitteln verfassungswidriger Organisationen”.

Allthough this is just an engine port of Wolfenstein 3D, the game itself is still indexed in Germany, where this page is hosted.

Changes:

icon.png (and on the game summary box to your right) and updated meta.xml kindly contributed by Kezza826, thanks again man!
Based on Wolf4SDL v.1.6
Everything works w/ the exception of music and adlib (synthesized sound), your regular sound (gun shots, opening doors) work.
Saving and loading games now work.
I don’t know what else needs to be fixed so I’m letting everyone test, pm or talk to me on irc if you have any suggestions…
Spear of Destiny support (you need the game files)
Full version (all six episodes) of Wolfenstein 3D are now supported, not just the shareware version (you need the game files)
Glitch where going back to the game from the Control Panel causes black boxes to appear on the status bar is resolved.

Fixing a hacked Wii via Nintendo (Wii misc)

Brakken wrote:

It seems that Nintendo is now charging almost to full price for a Nintendo Wii if you’ve installed unsigned code on the machine that resulted in a “bricked” console. This is surprising as their warranty clearly states you wont be covered if you install unauthorized software on your Wii. Bricking your console can happen easily if you install illegal copies of VC/Wiiware games or WAD’s from unreliable places like GB@Temp. However, like I warn users in all of my reviews and guides you indeed void your warranty by installing unsigned code (aka homebrew) on your Wii. I have no sympathy for the people who pirate VC/Wiiware games and I think Nintendo should charge double the cost of the Wii to replace it.

Q1Rev (Release 1) (Wii Game Port)

A port of id Software’s Quake for the Nintendo Wii.

The source code comes from Q1DS (an initial attempt to port the engine to the Nintendo DS), which, in turn, comes from the original WinQuake.

The engine is feature-complete, it plays the game at 30fps with no hiccups or any similar problems. It can also be used as a client for Internet-based gameplay, as a “unmodified” NetQuake client.
