ZXA v0.9.0 (Spectrum emu for GBA)

A new version of ZXA arrived 🙂 The following lines were taken from the official homepage!

Well, it’s been a while since I released a new version of ZXA, and even longer since I updated the site, so I figured that I’d kill two birds with one stone…This is the last working build that I had before I started to add menu support in earnest. It’s far from complete, but I believe it’s highly compatible, and extemely fast. Things to note about this build are:

1. There is only support for SNA. Use something like ZX32 to convert from Z80, TAP or TZX formats.
2. The injector supports multi roms, but ZXA will NOT let you switch to them.
3. The menus are partly implemented but NOT working. They are accessed by pressing START and SELECT together. Once activated there is currently NO way of returning back to the ROM, so do NOT attempt to access the menus mid game.
4. R-Register defaults can’t be changed, so some games will exhibit less than random behaviour.
5. You can’t currently change where the injector creates the ROM. It currently gets dumped in the root of drive C:Speed is pretty darn good. In my tests thisbuild performs much better than Foon when running more CPU intensive games. Note however, that games that require little CPU overhead are speed throttled, and will NOT run faster than they should.

I’ve also put the guestbook back up. Please leave any comments (good or bad) there. Anyone wanting to submit bug reports can do so to zxadvance@btinternet.com Expect regular updates now. Multi ROM support and working menus are coming next! 😉

Have fun,
[ – The HiVE -]

Skyrank Games released four unfinished GBC Games! (GBC misc)

I received an e-mail from Skyrank Games, and they wrote me that they released 4 of their unfinished games for GBC. They are all UNFINISHED but still quite impressive! These ROMS are not uploaded to PDroms yet, I’ll do that at a later time. Please check Skyrank’s Homepage first 🙂 The Details:

PaZeek PUZZLE GBC
The wait is over, PaZeek GBC is NOW available for download. The game is 85% complete with more then 50 playable levels. The once peaceful land of the pazeeks has been turned upside down in chaos. Only you can defeat the evil queen Taria and her 8 nasty henchman. Solve all 81 puzzles, recover the hidden keys and free the land. A password feature will allow you to continue where you left off. Over 20 beta testers are hooked on this one. Pazeek will feature great colorful cartoon cinemas between levels in story mode. – This project has ended as we moved on to GB Advance titles. We can not afford to spend any more time on this game. It is nearly complete and gives an idea as to what the game would be like.

Rumble & Tumble GBC
Join Rumble & Tumble on their Wild Adventure for the Game Boy Color. Travel through Forests, Deserts, Caves, Oceans and the heavens to defeat the Evil Thunder King and his henchmen to set the land free. – This project has ended as we moved on to GB Advance titles. We can not afford to spend any more time on this game as it was mainly a tech demo for us. It is far from complete but at least gives a idea as to what the game would be like.

Gear Effect Racing GBC
Gear Effect was a Top View Racing game where the play could upgrade their car based on they points and cash awarded from race to race. – This project has ended as we moved on to GB Advance titles. We can not afford to spend any more time on this game as it was mainly a tech demo for us. It is far from complete but at least gives a idea as to what the game would be like.

Elemental Fighter
Is a fast paced, side scrolling Space shooter packed with hard to beat bosses and enemies. – This project has ended as we moved on to GB Advance titles. We can not afford to spend any more time on this game as it was mainly a tech demo for us. It is far from complete but at least gives a idea as to what the game would be like. (Good luck finishing level 1! This is one of the hardest and Challenging GBC shooters out!)

Plus4 Emulator for GP32! (GP32 misc)

Just recieved some exclusive news from CHN including a private beta of a Plus4 Emulator for GP32 (the emulator itself is unnamed and unreleased yet!). The emulator works quite well and it’s a bit difficult to handle, but it’s just a question of time until you know how to handle it 🙂 These screenshots were taken in a hurry with GeePee (GP32 Emu) and are copyrighted by Kojote! You are welcome to use them on your site if you give credits and a link. Please do not link the pictures directly from PDroms!!! Okay now to the lines CHN wrote:

Hello,I’m currently working on a portable Commodore Plus/4 emulator for the GP32. It is right now fairly complete – it implements rasterline-basted TED emulation, D64 disk image support, automatic starting of most PRGs off the SMC or a D64 image, full keyboard and Joystick emulation, screen brightness control and sound emulation. The speed is about 80-90% at 133MHz, including sound, but further optimizations will be done. The emulator will be released to the public on my website when the ADIC 2002 competition is over 😉

[Images are not available anymore, lost while converting the PDR database in autum 2007]

[UPDATE] I had to mark the pictures, because somone tooked it without giving credits (You know who you are!). It seems it’s worse to give something away for free without any mark 🙁 Well… in case you need the pictures without pdroms sign, feel free to e-mail me!
