The Plan 9 community is recruiting student ds developers for google summer of code 2008.
If anyone is interested you can make contact on the plan9 irc channel on freenode or through the plan9 google group. The group also has a project page found at code.google.com/p/inferno-ds/
This should be a great opportunity to combine your studies with DS homebrew.
Thanks to http://www.drunkencoders.com for the news.

oXo brings us this fine Nintendo DS homebrew release called DSBall.
You must guide the bouncing ball save trough the level, that’s it – if there wouldn’t be obstacles and holes 😉

nczempin made a simplistic clock for Poker tournaments. It allows you to set a time per round (in minutes), and when that time has passed, it will emit a noise (shamelessly stolen from wintermute’s libnds sound example). It can also pause/go, and change the current level, reset, and do your washing.

This is a card game where you have to get rid of all your cards before the computer does.
How to play:
Each arrow defines the direction (way) of the pile : an up arrow means you have to put cards with superior value (4 then 5 then 6 …) and a down arrow inferior value (6 then 5 then 4 …)
There are 2 bonuses cards : Joker and Reverse.
The first one can be played on any card but you can only play the same color on it
The second can be played on a card of the same color and reverses the direction of the pile. Then you can only play card of the same color on it
Concerning cards number, 0 comes after 12 and 12 comes before 0
In order to play this game, you only need the stylus to drag cards. The menu works the same as the game : drag the card where you want to go.

nczempin started working on converting the original “Football Manager” to the DS. Paul Robson has ported, or reverse-engineered, or remade, the original Football Manager by Kevin Toms.
The current status is:
A pre-alpha version is running. You can see some of the menu screens, and once it comes to match day, you can actually see a match.
It is not really playable (other than advancing from match to match), in fact, I have taken out quite a bit of functionality.
So you should take a look at it only if you are very curious.
I will release the source code as well, of course (it’s GPL), but I haven’t found a permanent home for it yet.
Given that it is likely that I will not keep maintaining this for a long time (it is only a “finger exercise” to get acquainted with DS homebrew), it would be nice if someone would like to take over, provide webspace, etc. Putting it on sourceforge would be a bit of an overkill IMHO.
Here’s the current binary:

Any questions, suggestions etc., would best be put in this thread, or sent to me by pm.

Version 0.1 of Tetra Master DS is nearly complete. Masif just got a few more bugs to work out and some sprucing up of the UI, and then he will release it to the public.
If you’re not familiar with Tetra Master, it’s the card based mini game from Final Fantasy IX. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minigames_of_Final_Fantasy
